Its crazy that I got 36 months of ULTIMATE for $90 3 years ago. It was back when they allowed you to "trial" Ultimate for $1 but it would also convert your current Xbox Live Gold subscription to Ultimate...

These prices are a joke. Last renewal I bought an Argentina card and utilized it through VPN. If that doesn't work next year I'm cancelling, no way I'm paying these prices for online access. I'd rather move to a different gaming platform.

I did the $1 conversion 3 years ago, and I did enjoy having GPU both on PC and XBox. However, these new prices are completely out of touch with reality. I'll definitely spend less than $360 a year buying a few games here and there going forward. Another thing out of touch with reality, even before the AI issues, is the cost of fast storage on XBox, which is why most of my money goes to other platforms first.

My cheap 3 years finally ends in August. I'm buying a steam machine and streaming from that when it launches. I dove head first into the Xbox gamepass ecosystem and enjoyed it for years, but at $30 msrp, ~$15 Slickdeals a month, I'm done with game pass. I'll keep streaming from my series X after my expiration, but Steam machine and deck (or handheld alternative) are the place to be going forward.

I did the Turkey VPN trick before as well. You can't be angry at them because a loophole that we were never meant to abuse got closed though. The other gaming platforms charge for online play too. Playstation Essentials (the closest equivalent to this) is $80 per year. Nintendo Online is much more affordable but also the most bare bones. $20 for the most basic version or $50 for the bigger package. I personally have only done the $20 version for online play.

Of course if you want to skip consoles altogether, PC won't charge you any online fees... yet.

Anybody else have an issue converting this? Trying to add this to an existing Ultimate account and its converting at the Gold rate - 12 mo to 91 days rather than the 40% rate.

I did the $1 game pass premium twice with fortnite crew. I honestly haven't found anything to play so to pay this much I'd pass. I would need a game list. Hogwarts legacy is nice but also on Luna
