Please be aware that this is a 0.6% overclock. It is basically the same card as the one that is $10 less.

If the non-OC model is available for less, I would probably get that. That being said, I think the other is out of stock now.

Is there room for more?

I want to jump on this but I'm concerned about that connector. Will it have any physical impact in the long term?

I am not an engineer but I have the Ti version of this card and it seems pretty stable to me. The card is small and comparatively light. It doesn't seem all that different than using an x4 card which also doesn't have any kind of retention.

That being said, who knows what happens in the long term. I don't think I have seen a lot of posts about real world issues. But, clearly, these cards have not been selling very well given that Gigabyte has been blowing out their stock for the past 2 weeks and still hasn't sold them all.

Had the same thoughts. Almost went with the 3 fan model for that very reason, but couldn't justify the extra $30.
My plan is to put a support stand under mine just to be safe. Amazon's got a bunch for $5-10. Or there's free 3d printable ones as well.

I honestly don't know. it may be luck of the draw. However, Gigabyte has a highly segmented product line that has 9 models that are higher in the food chain than this one. Of those 9, 6 of them have overclocks bigger than this card. Some of them, substantially bigger. I would be a bit surprised if they weren't doing some testing to get the most overclockable units into their upper tier cards. For example, the Elite model, has a 9% overclock which is 15x the amount of this one.

As a side note, I have no idea who buys a top-tier RTX 5060. They cost the same or more as a 5060 Ti which is 15% faster.......

Assuming it will fit physically, it depends what you are planning to do with your media center. It is overkill for just straight video/audio playing but it would work well. But if that is all you need, you could get that from integrated graphics for a fraction of the cost and power draw.

One thing to consider is what OS are you planning to run on your media center and is NVIDIA well supported there.

Simple rule, don't buy any 8gb GPU if you plan on playing above 1080. 1080 this card is fine.

This is misleading. People have been running above 1080p for years in 8GB cards. Ran a 3440 x 1440 monitor on a Vega 64 8GB just fine.

Will 8GB keep up with future 1440p and above? Maybe not, but it will play plenty of current and older games just fine above 1080p.

Honestly, a 8GB GPU will play almost all games at 1440p fine. However, in many cases it will take some settings compromises to make it happen.

If you don't mind lowering things like texture quality and some other visual settings, there are very few games that need more than 8GB VRAM to be playable. Just be aware that in some games you may need to take them to the lowest settings which is definitely a noticeable visual downgrade.

When it comes to cards with 8GB of VRAM, for me it is about price and expectations. If the price is low enough and you go in with the appropriate expectations, you don't need to blindly ignore these cards. On the opposite side, I would avoid cards like the 5060 Ti 8GB at nearly $400. That is way too much to pay for an 8GB card.

What you need to consider is what are your alternatives at this price point that have more than 8GB of memory. The Arc B580 is slightly slower and has compatibility issues with older games. AMD doesn't have a card in this price range at all. Your best bet might be to get something like a used RX 6700 XT 12GB but that is a 2 generation old card that isn't even as fast as the 5060 in a lot of games.

The sad reality is that everything in this price range is going to be compromised in some way.

I play all the latest games at 3440x1440 with my super old EVGA 3060ti 8GB just fine. I'm running mostly medium-high settings but haven't had the itch to upgrade yet.
