Sadly just yesterday it was announced that the FCC has granted Verizon waiver so as of today any purchases moving forward they will no longer have to adhere to the 60-day policy. And there was no restrictions at all as far as I could see I don't know if it's going to be 12 months concurrent or what.

But unless you plan on using visible or straight talk or whatever for 12 months these deals are basically dead in the water now. Or unless you plan on using them as a Wi-Fi only device which I suppose could be practical for these Motorola phones since they have headphone jacks and SD cards.

So I mean you could do worse than a Moto G stylus 2025 as a music player but. ... Just terrible he depressing anti-consumer news again from the current FCC

It's too late as of today Verizon no longer has to do the 60 day unlocking because they were giving away her from the current FCC. I mean I'm sure word will get around on these comments sections but I do wonder what's going to happen to edge cases people that bought a phone a week ago or two weeks ago or whatever. Anecdotally I can say my Moto G Stylus 2025 that I bought in November seems to have been automatically unlocked in the sense that when I switched my infamobile SIM card over it still works. So far anyway.

But boy I mean I bought that maybe 80 days ago. I don't know what happens to people that bought a phone a week ago or yesterday. I don't know if the grandfathering in of the 60 day is the date of purchase or the date of activation or the date of delivery.

The worst part is the FCC didn't give them any restrictions at all so far as I could tell in the judgment. It wasn't like 60 days isn't going to work but no more than 180 days or no more than 120 days. Just a complete placating to the telecom industry.

Before people jump all over this question it has a point. Some people have reported having issues with the line if it's not used semi-regularly.

Also, will the unlock signal work overseas?
Yes, unlock works overseas over WiFi. I bought 2 with 1 month plan in March then left them deactivated, it was locked. Few mentioned that the 60 days does not need to be continuous. So, activated again after 8 months while the phone was overseas. It assigned new number which did not show up on the phone but the phones got unlocked with in 2 days.

But isnt it supposed to be consequetive months without a break? Technically I did pay for 2 months already
You mentioned that you had renewed one month before the first month ended. So, if you are unsure if it would unlock, disable autopay and wait for the phone to pass 60-days since activation and check if it auto unlocks. I did not need to contact Total Wireless to unlock. Hope it is the same for you with Straight Talk.

I can't get a solid take on whether or not you can unlock these after leaving it for the second month?
Reading is indeed, fundamental.

It should be $67 for 1 phone after 2 months of service. Better than MetroPCS but is no free tablet for $20.
The next generation of this phone (2026) will use chinese CPU - it will be slower and hotter.
BYW - it said "you do need 60 days of PAID service to unlock. After 60 days of continuous service" - but February has 28 days only! It looks like you will have to pay a fee more days for rich 60 days.
FYI, even though they call monthly plan, it is for 30 days regardless of the number of days in a month.

Actually I renewed 1 day before end of the first month. For some strange reason my online plan shows $10 plan correctly but the data still works just fine...

Are there usually discount deals on Straight Talk plans? Can you buy these phones, activate them, use off the one month while waiting for deals to get the second month cheaper? I don't think it needs to be 60 continuous days of service is it?

How could it be $75 if you need to pay for 2 months?

I believe the Amex offers for Straight Talk have largely expired. Many Chase cards have a new 15% back for ST purchases, though.

Nope. I just added one a few days ago on my Amex Everyday Card:

"Earn a one-time $20 statement credit after using your enrolled eligible Card to make a single purchase of $45 or more online at straighttalk.com [straighttalk.com] by 3/31/2026. "

Multiple line discounts. First phone is $45 plan, second is $30.

Thanks. I removed my post. Going in to Amex to load anew.

YMMV, if you have used an ST offer on Amex recently. I had no new Amex Straight Talk offers.

You have to go into your account and look for it under offers.
