Sadly just yesterday it was announced that the FCC has granted Verizon waiver so as of today any purchases moving forward they will no longer have to adhere to the 60-day policy. And there was no restrictions at all as far as I could see I don't know if it's going to be 12 months concurrent or what.

But unless you plan on using visible or straight talk or whatever for 12 months these deals are basically dead in the water now. Or unless you plan on using them as a Wi-Fi only device which I suppose could be practical for these Motorola phones since they have headphone jacks and SD cards.

So I mean you could do worse than a Moto G stylus 2025 as a music player but. ... Just terrible he depressing anti-consumer news again from the current FCC

It's too late as of today Verizon no longer has to do the 60 day unlocking because they were giving away her from the current FCC. I mean I'm sure word will get around on these comments sections but I do wonder what's going to happen to edge cases people that bought a phone a week ago or two weeks ago or whatever. Anecdotally I can say my Moto G Stylus 2025 that I bought in November seems to have been automatically unlocked in the sense that when I switched my infamobile SIM card over it still works. So far anyway.

But boy I mean I bought that maybe 80 days ago. I don't know what happens to people that bought a phone a week ago or yesterday. I don't know if the grandfathering in of the 60 day is the date of purchase or the date of activation or the date of delivery.

The worst part is the FCC didn't give them any restrictions at all so far as I could tell in the judgment. It wasn't like 60 days isn't going to work but no more than 180 days or no more than 120 days. Just a complete placating to the telecom industry.

Good deal but the bad news Straight Talk requires 365 days of paid, active service for device unlocking. The phone must be active, in good standing, and not reported lost or stolen. Military personnel with deployment papers may be exempt from the 365-day requirement.

So I thought after 12 agonizing months, be it at $10 a month or whatever, they would stick you for an additional 5 days,

NOT SO: When speaking to my new favorite CS Professional in the Philippines, she said that my phone would unlock in 360 days. They've already done the math. So, where's Imelda Marcos and how many pairs of shoes did she really have?

Anyway, yes, need to look into other Verizon Value carriers.

Also, if you want to risk it, see my next post!!!!

So, I see that when I add MORE yes, I said MORE lines, the 3rd line on the Silver plan is $15 and the fourth line, OMG, is $10.

So, for an amazing amount of $25 additional, I have two more phones coming. Yes, I ordered two more Samsung A16s with Silver Plans. I am gambling that the CS in the Philippines will be able to "detach" the plan from the samsung phone and "attach" the phone to my motorola and that will serve as the second month of service, getting me unlocked.

Time will tell.

demanding reps NOICE LOL ....so i bought 2 of these but changed policy while shipping to myself .....bummer but r u saying i could do the visible 19 a month deal for a year or a cheap trac phone plane for a year anf the phone will unlock? thanc for any info ...AND YES REPPED MY LORD Smilie
Visible supports esim but apparently only Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices. You can contact Visible support and tell them you tried Straight Talk and the download speeds were throttled and you prefer Visible speeds. That is your foot in the door. They may send you a free sim or activate via esim if possible.

In theory you can just pop your visible sim in the Stylus 2025. You may want to unlink the Stylus from your Straight Talk account first. But yes, the phone will work just fine on Visible or any of the Tracfone brands I listed. The secret is to tell whichever Verizon family of companies that you prefer their service because of faster download speeds. Doesn't have to be true but it disarms the rep. All you have to tell them is that you have a Stylus 2025 and you need help activating it on your account. Wink

My Moto G Stylus 2025 purchased in Nov has successfully unlocked. I purchased first month on Straight Talk as part of the initial order, waited in Dec with no service, and rebranded to Tracfone in Jan and just now started the $15 one month service (declined autopay discount). Phone has unlocked since I fulfilled the two conditions: 60ish days passed since service activation and I purchased 2 months of service on the Tracfone family brands.

Guide for rebranding to Tracfone

Centers operate from 8 AM to 11:45 PM (EST) 7 days a week.
1-800-867-7183
Total Time: 15 min call
Have your ST phone turned on, and call from a different phone if your ST service is inactive.

Hold for English
Phone Number: Don't Have One
IMEI: Don't Have One
You need Phone Number or IMEI: Agent
Try this again: Agent
One last time: Agent

To the agent: Hi ____, can you please rebrand my Straight Talk phone to Tracfone so I can use Tracfone service?

Agent will ask for IMEI of ST phone and last 4 digits of the SIM card. They will send a 2FA verification pin to the ST number, which you can get even without active service. They will offer you to choice to keep the ST number or get a new number (I kept mine, not sure if it matters). After they complete rebranding, they will move on to activating service with the phone. You can activate with the agent or activate yourself (tell them you have a service card at home / away from you or make up another excuse).

My phone didn't automatically unlock on day 60 and 2 service months purchased even though the Tracfone unlock portal confirmed it was eligible for unlocking. I tried other SIMs, tried wifi, waited a couple of days, nothing worked. Before calling Tracfone, I decided to factory reset my phone since I debloated all of the crap apps. Upon the first start, with only cell service, the phone showed unlocked in settings. So if you debloated and confirmed that your Tracfone is eligible for unlocking but it hasn't unlocked, you may have to factory reset.
Mark this.

You did this before unlock policy change and I wonder if there is any chance that rebranding to Tracfone could create a glitch that sets unlock to 365 days?

Android 16 update was released today and repaired the USB tethering issue. It began downloading as soon I turned on my Stylus with sim card inserted. That was a bit disconcerting, considering I didn't authorize it to do so. After it finished the update, it lost the network, but a reboot brought it back online. Not sure if A16 broke other things along the way, but seem to be running well for normal functions.
The first time I tried to test USB tethering on A16, it wouldn't connect and gave an error. I disconnected, rebooted for the second time and gave the phone an hour to optimize the new cache. Then I tired again and its been working fine ever since.
Thanks again for all your help.
Great news! Android 16 update has resolved the USB tethering problems, and it took about two hours per phone to complete. Interestingly, my phone updated automatically even though it wasn't connected to Wi-Fi.

That's awesome! I had no idea they offer more discounts for the 3rd and 4th lines. I just got two Samsung A17s for $28. I can't believe it, $100 for four new phones. Insane savings! I really don't understand the risk here. Even locked, they're definitely worth more than $25. LMAO

is this dead?
Yes, no more free Stylus 2025. Straight Talk is currently offering free Moto G Power (2025) and Samsung Galaxy A17. However, the deal might not be worth it anymore due to the new, year-long unlock policy.

No one knows for sure until someone tries it with the new unlock policy; however, rebranding has never altered activation date in all of the previous unlock policies. The unlock policy also refers to the activation date of the overall Verizon Value family, not a specific brand.

If your activation is before Jan 20, it's up to you if rebranding for the 2nd month is worth the unknown risk of resetting the activation date. If your activation is after Jan 20, then rebranding is required for a cheap plan.

That is what I'm afraid of, I used to rebrand one of my moto phone to tracfone last year. But I don't think I will try this method with my newly bought phones, will pay for the second month on straight talk this time incase the unlock peroid goes to 365days.

Stylus 2025 deal expired on 1/28 at 12:00 AM. However, you can still get two Moto G Power (2025) or Samsung Galaxy A17 phones for $75 (1st & 2nd line). If you already have two lines with Straight Talk, you can add two more phones Moto G Power 2025 or Samsung Galaxy A17 for $25 (3rd & 4th line).

Keep in mind, this deal might not be worth it for some due to the new year-long unlock policy. But Visible customers may find it worthwhile.

I can get two A17s for like $45ish...

Question I have, does the sim come preloaded or separate? Like if I want to sell one of them, do I need to worry about a sim being tied into my account somehow?

Debating whether it's worth it... but probably could make use of a spare as a remote or to play with or something. Also curious if it does come with 2 sims, if I could simply use both in the same phone? Like use one for a month... then the 2nd for another, but in the same device?

I wouldn't care about unlocking with these so that's not an issue.
