By that way if anyone got shafted by the Jan 20th activation deadline, if you want to say screw you to straight talk, donate them to securethecell or any other phone donation center for Domestic Violence Protection.

1. It's a great screw you to Straight Talk, no paying for service after any bait and switch.

2. They reconfigure it to 911 only, so no future profit for them either.

3. It genuinely helps people who need it in dangerous situations.

Hope this helps.

Yes I am petty.

I could have but I didn't. I panicked because of the new policy and just added a month. My first phone I bought a month of TracFone service about 4 days after my first month with straight talk ended and my phone unlocked according to the original activation dates 60 days so 4 days early on the TracFone month.
I activated before the 1/20 deadline and I'm wondering if I should rebrand it to TracFone or just renew the Straight Talk Silver Plan for the second month. Probably not worth the risk at this point.

I never did any official rebranding just bought a month of TracFone and downloaded a esim for it and my phone unlocked after 30 days. PS I don't have the original straight talk SIM in my phone so I don't think that has to be done.
Interesting that an official "rebrand" isn't necessary.
But it does make sense since the G Stylus 2025's boot screen has the Verizon logo instead of the Straight Talk logo, so I believe this phone isn't Straight Talk branded to begin with and it should be unlocked as long as you have active service with any Verizon family of brands for at least 60 days.

I just went to TracFone website clicked on activate and chose new customer and new line. Put my IMEI number and it gave me the option to activate esim then pick a plan. I just double checked the process using my moto edge 2024 and it gave me the option again for esim.
My two Stylus with ST expired today (service disconnected when I woke up this morning). I have just activated them with Tracfone - using a virtual card number (which I'll deactivate soon) for auto refill discount (total $11.50 each with tax and fees).
One of them initially wasn't recognized as a valid Tracfone brand, but eventually it went through. Hopefully they will unlock on/after 03/13.
It appears Tracfone's website has recently been re-designed. I hope it wasn't part of the process of updating the new unlock policy 😉

Good work. Hope it'll be unlocked. Just want to know. Thanks.

So is it not necessary to rebrand the phone ST to TracFone? Did you put the IMEI1 or IMEI2 when registering the phone? Is it safe to enable autopay so its $10 and just cancel after 1 month? My ST month ends tomorrow, and I will try this method out.

Only if you are making less than $5 an hour! I heard once you enable auto fill, you have to call to cancel it and that may take hours. Perhaps use a virtual card number and disable it after your auto fill payment goes through?
Auto Refill can be turned off from the Tracfone website or app. I just turned my auto refill off from the website.

I bought the Moto G Stylus 5G from Straight Talk back in November 2025 and let it expire after 30 days. I just tried what the other another post suggested, which was to activate the phone with the Tracfone $15, 30 day plan ($10 after auto refill turned on) using the eSIM. It unlocked as soon as I activated it. I had some Tracfone points but couldn't use them to buy the $15 plan directly (you can only use points to refill an existing line), so I just paid the $10 with a virtual credit card. I didn't have to rebrand the Straight Talk phone to Tracfone. Both calls and text work fine with the Tracfone plan.

You're at least the second person who got their phone unlocked 60 (61?) days from the original ST activation date. On retrospect, I should have been more patient and waited a couple of days to activate mine on Tracfone instead of on the day when ST service was terminated. Hopefully there won't be any glitch as speaking with Tracfone CS isn't something I'm looking forward to.
I didn't notice you could turn off auto refill by yourself! Not sure if this is new or I got it messed up with difficulty in deleting your payment method.

Did you see this on Tracfone's unlocking page? You should be ok. Hopefully.

You said "It unlocked as soon as I activated it." ... so you did not have to wait another 30days?

That's right, it unlocked as soon as the eSIM was activated. But it's been over 60 days since the phone was first activated back in November 2025. If it's been less than 60 days since activation then it won't unlock until 60 days. Of course this was before the 365 day requirement change in January.

I did the Tracfone esim activation both my stylus phones a few weeks back. But the tracfone plan says it ends in April. I did only get charge the $11 for each phone. I did use a privacy card with a charge limit and a reminder to cancel after first week of March.

I see now they change the tracfone layout. Seems easier to cancel autorefill, before it was a small blue toggle switch.

Received the ST email about my plan expiring today so I switched to the Bronze plan. Hopefully the phone will unlock after 30 days.

Did you call to rebrand to tracfone or just active one month service in tracfone website using eSIM?
