Sadly just yesterday it was announced that the FCC has granted Verizon waiver so as of today any purchases moving forward they will no longer have to adhere to the 60-day policy. And there was no restrictions at all as far as I could see I don't know if it's going to be 12 months concurrent or what.

But unless you plan on using visible or straight talk or whatever for 12 months these deals are basically dead in the water now. Or unless you plan on using them as a Wi-Fi only device which I suppose could be practical for these Motorola phones since they have headphone jacks and SD cards.

So I mean you could do worse than a Moto G stylus 2025 as a music player but. ... Just terrible he depressing anti-consumer news again from the current FCC

It's too late as of today Verizon no longer has to do the 60 day unlocking because they were giving away her from the current FCC. I mean I'm sure word will get around on these comments sections but I do wonder what's going to happen to edge cases people that bought a phone a week ago or two weeks ago or whatever. Anecdotally I can say my Moto G Stylus 2025 that I bought in November seems to have been automatically unlocked in the sense that when I switched my infamobile SIM card over it still works. So far anyway.

But boy I mean I bought that maybe 80 days ago. I don't know what happens to people that bought a phone a week ago or yesterday. I don't know if the grandfathering in of the 60 day is the date of purchase or the date of activation or the date of delivery.

The worst part is the FCC didn't give them any restrictions at all so far as I could tell in the judgment. It wasn't like 60 days isn't going to work but no more than 180 days or no more than 120 days. Just a complete placating to the telecom industry.

Great news! My two phones became unlocked.
  • Initially activated on 1/12/2026 on ST with the included plan.
  • Activated on 2/11/2026 on TF on the $15 plan (paid $11.50 with autopay) without rebranding and got a new number.
  • Checked for eligibility on 3/13/2026 https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/wps/portal/home/ with IMEI1 (original ST sim)
  • Rebooted and became unlocked in a minute
The website asked for a phone number because there was service attached. I entered the TF number but it said it was incorrect. Tried IMEI2 but was told it was not eligible! So I started over with IMEI1 and entered the original ST number. It then took me to the page asking for my name and email address. Didn't receive any email. So I just rebooted the phone. It initially showed locked but less than a minute later, it became unlocked.
Good luck everyone!
Thank you sir! Did you activate TF with IMEI2 ?
Were you able to use any reward points on TF for activating $10 plan?

Yes, I used IMEI2 (eSIM) for activation on TF and left ST pSIM untouched.
I do have a TF line (for Fios discount). First of all it won't allow you to activate a new line. I also heard not paying with real money may not be considered as paid service.
I used a virtual credit card, disabled autopay a few days after activation, and deactivated the number a few days ago just in case (I hope I deactivated the correct number as I have a few virtual numbers active).
Hope this helps!

Thats a bummer if reward points can't be used to help unlock these phones

I am confused with many posts about switching to Tracfone in the second month. Is it just for saving or a necessary step for unlocking?

Saving money; Straight Talk at cheapest qualified plan 2nd month for unlocking $35 vs. TracFone at $15 or $11+ with autopay.

Just curious, did you disable the physical ST pSIM in network settings? I also have eSIM on TF, but if I don't turn off the original pSIM in network settings, it shows two network icon on the phone. I just want to follow exactly what you did so I could get mine unlocked without issue. TIA!

I noticed something different about the unlock site for mine this morning. Up until today, it would outright say that I wasn't qualified. Today, after I put in the ST phone number and pSIM, it then says that "Our systems indicate that your device has a service line attached. For security reasons, we need to also verify your Serial Number." I then put in the eSIM, which is what I used for Tracfone. It then just goes back to the first screen. Am I doing something wrong, or something new has changed?

Took a look at the phone and now says Unlocked. Put in my Infimobile Sim and works. Good luck to everyone.

I never took out the ST pSIM but had it on and off from time to time, though I believe I had it on when checking. Based on orangecraws's experience above, I think you should keep it on. Although there's no service from ST, ST keeps the number for at least 30 days after deactivation (up to 90 days?). Enabling the sim card may help the system detect the line.

No rebrand, just paid for service for one month of Tracfone on the eSIM.

I bought 2 phones. One I renewed with Bronze and I see it as Network Unlocked the day after the 2nd month. There is no need to reboot my phone. I pop in a T-Mobile SIM and I am getting data. Again, no reboot necessary.

The other phone I did not renew. And it is still showing as Network Locked. I will go for Tracfone eSIM option soon.

I need to unlock 4 phones originally activated on ST for 30 days; planning to do second month on TF

Is there a way to take advantage of Amex offer - 'Earn a one-time $25 statement credit after using your enrolled eligible Card to make a single purchase of $45 or more online at tracfone.com by 3/31/2026'
