Rechargeable 1.5V lithiums are kinda tricky to use. They have a step-down converter/charging controller between the battery and device that's a point of failure. They can fry themselves or fail under normal use and you have 3.7V battery powering a 1.5V device. Have blew up a couple under normal use, thankfully not inside sensitive electronics.

Ni-MH are more robust and can handle more abuse.

Good but not incredible
It was posted because it dropped back down $3. S&S helps

Why do people still buy 1.2v nimh aaa when 1.5v lithium aaa exists?
Cause Eneloop doesn't drain like the rest. I'll rather trust a 1.2v Eneloop than another brand 1.5v.

now if only they'd put the AA's on sale, seems like a long time since they did that, but the AAA's have been on sale a lot lately. These and energizer lithiums are all you need. Even the top brand alkaline batteries all leak sooner or later now, Duracell/Energizer/Kirkland/Rayovak had them all leak the last 4-5 years, AA seems worse than AAA, not worth destroying equipment for.

Many reasons. Here's some that I find important:

Temperature range: NiMH will operate at a wider temperature range (think outdoor sensors).

Charge lifetime:
NiMH will likely last longer in low-drain devices.
There is a step-down ("buck") voltage converter in the rechargeable lithium AA's and AAA's which have their own parasitic draw and inefficiencies. (Cells like 18650's with a 3.7 V nominal voltage do not have such a converter).
If your device lasts hours/days on alkaline cells, then the rechargeable lithiums might work for you. If your device lasts months on alkaline cells, you'll end up charging the lithium cells more frequently than the NiMH cells.

Brand reliability:
This one is hard to get a true measurement on, but Panasonic makes some of the best NiMH cells. Most (all?) of the rechargeable lithium cells that I've seen are from short-lived, funnily-named Chinese brands. This trust/gamble matters to some people.

The seller is OEM eneloop store.
But comingling still occurs, the OEM real batteries and the scammers fake ones end up in same bin at the warehouse(s). They are supposedly working to end this but as of now it still occurs.

Bought 8 years ago at $20.99, so I'd say this is still a pretty good deal!

Regular price of IKEA Laddas
Current price of AAA batteries at IKEA:
LADDA 750mAh - $8.99 / 4 pack
As of January 13, 2026, they only carry this version of AAA rechargeable battery. The eneloop is still a better deal. Perhaps you forgot about inflation or haven't bought IKEA batteries in a long while.

I don't think it is a good price for AAA and 850mAh. Try this one Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA Batteries (8 Pack) with 1250mAh, Lithium Triple A Batteries for $15.38 S&S.

I like Ikea batteries, but it's a little bit of effort to get over the $35 purchase to get free shipping. Overall, your comment is very good.
