incredible price on a triband wifi 7 router..... You dont need anything but this for most households. Could not find many reviews of it unfortunately, but the slightly better BE9700 has reviewed very well, linked it below since they should be pretty identical. The only real difference between the 9500 and 9700 is the 9500 has 2 1Gbps ports instead of 3 2.5Gbps ports on the 9700. Also the 5Ghz band is slightly faster on the 9700.

I have this and it's been doing very well. I got 1.4G speed on wifi.

It gets pretty hot after running for long time which I assume is what caused connection issue for some. I left it on a wired rack so it can cool from both top and bottom.

Can you name all the networks the same and the device picks the best one?
Yes, they call it Smart Connect and you just need to name all of the bands the same name and turn the Smart Connect setting on. It isn't very good at all IMO. I would rather just pick my own band for each device since the router doesn't seem to make great decisions on what should go where. After a while I just opted for putting everything on the MLO network and that has worked a lot more smoothly than just using the individual bands. Not to mention it's just easier using a single network for all of the devices in my home. So I just set the other networks to hide and use the MLO network for everything.

But isn't MLO only for WiFi 7 enabled devices?

How is it's behavior different than smart connect for all of the order connected devices then?

In for 2. Don't have 10 or 2.5 fiber so I'll see if I can use those as the backhaul. I highly doubt my 100' cat5 will work with 10g though.

Was going to buy, but remembered there's an ongoing security investigation about TP Link routers.

MLO capability is maximized with WiFi 7 devices connecting via all three network bands(2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz), using all three bands simultaneously. So instead of just sending and receiving data on one network band, you are doing it on all three network bands at the same time. This obviously greatly improves speed and reliability as each signal has its strengths and limitations. The MLO network can still be used with older devices. I honestly can't explain why the individual network bands aren't performing well on their own, or why older devices are still gaining improved connection on the MLO network versus the normal networks that they were made for. It could just be the software or firmware needs some updates but I'm just guessing here.

Smart Connect is vastly different as it will decide which band to place each of your devices, allowing said device to connect to only 1 band at a time. This is obviously slower, but the bigger problem is that it keeps switching the devices that I would like to stay on at least the 5GHz band but it'll switch my computers to 2.4GHz....just because I'm not using a lot of bandwidth for a few minutes. Then it won't switch back to a faster band quickly enough, which causes more issues with limited connection and constant dropped connections. It was complete chaos whenever I tried to use Smart Connect. It's not like I didn't try to make it work, I spent over two weeks using it with a variety of different settings and it just wasn't reliable enough. The moment I switched everything over to MLO network, everything just worked and worked well.

Also, I could absolutely get great reliability and speed on every network at times. The biggest problem was reliability with dropped connections using every network except MLO. It could be something I was doing wrong but I just couldn't get the other bands to not periodically drop device connections or even take a couple of minutes to completely restart the network signal(not modem).

Nope, I go for whatever product fits the needs and price range im looking for at the time. The controversy as you say it, is nothing more than other brand manufacture lobbyist trying to get a competitor out of the way so they can keep charging obscene amounts as specifically listed in the complaint to the FTC this isnt about Security but PRICE COMPETITION. Since TP-Link has won multiple awards and best product awards and yet still charges half the price they are a major threat to the bottom line of other networking manufactures.

They been trying to get TP-Link banned for over 5+ years now and since the company did a divestiture and is no longer part of mainland China, the lobbyist dont have a leg to stand on. Just shows their greed on their product markups, routers should not be costing $500+ EVER.

I have an AC4000 and its still got the Web GUI. Because of the talk of the app... hows the web gui that isn't through an app?
Edit - thankfully TPLink has emulators to see how the gui is. https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/emulator/

Tri-band does not explicitly mean 6 GHz.
Wifi 7 does though so technically who cares

I've come to the realization that our government will try and sabotage competing foreign companies just by waging culture wars.

No one found anything. It's all smoke. Tp-link products are just way too competitive. And if you're afraid, use one of them super fancy networking tools that can monitor traffic. Trust me on this, the nerds would have found something suspicious by now.

Router arrived today and all the LAN ports connected at 2.5Gb to my surprise. Still trying to get easymesh to work though with 2 be9500s.
Updates:
The 10gb port connects at 5gb for my 100' cat5 cable run.
On the second router I had to go into the advanced settings, enable easymesh and select satellite mode. The simple satellite mode toggle from the main screen didn't work.

Make sure you put the cable in the LAN port of the downstream router (not WAN)
