Now that I have to try to save more (who doesn't?) I went to cvs yesterday after a loooong time. I managed to get some mascara & nail-polish on clearance and generate a $5 and $6 ECBs. I thought I'd hop on here to check if there was a limit on this/get ideas to roll them...but wow, has slickdeals been pared down?!
There are no longer weekly threads for deals anymore??

Glad you were able to get some ECB with clearance - I understand that's part of the NEW registers - which I don't think we have here. IIRC, the 98% rule doesn't work on them but still works on all SCO.
I think MM deals are a thing of the past & I work on getting things I can use for the best price.
And I'll spend $2-$3 over the amount I have in ECB instead of like the old days, when I figured scenarios that spent just the denominations of ECB I had & was trying to reach a whole-cart threshold (like $8 off wys $40).
I'm not sure how I'd start again now.
I've changed my overall strategy & will share some of that even if you can't replicate it exactly.
Back in Dec. we could join the subscription for half price ($24) and it includes $10ecb every month so I either spend it on something I need or try to generate some kind of ECB with it, maybe 5ecb, and then the next month I'll have 15ecb to spend. I'm more likely to find a deal I want with more than 10ecb to spend. And maybe every 3rd month I'll have 20ecb and can do a P&G 10ecb wys $30 deal.
I got a $75 Zifts GC (one of those that has several different stores on their various cards)
There was one that included CVS.
It gave back 15ecb
I was able to redeem the Zifts into 2 different CVS cards to use on 2 accounts. The downside is they print out on paper and don't work in SCO.
But to date I haven't had to part with cash unless I elect to use SCO
There IS a GC deal now spend $100 get 20ecb. Zifts isn't mentioned in the ad but it does say "and other participating brands" so it might be worth checking.
And the yearly subscription is $48 IIRC, if that's worth it to you. Equivalent to paying $4 to get $10 to spend in the store, a 60% savings BUT in CVS money that expires.
Good luck in the struggles of mom-hood along with adapting to the dustbowl where couponing used to thrive.

Example--buy (2) of product that is B15 G 5. You can spend 14.95 and earn the $5 ECB at a NEW register but if you also had a 3/15 CRT for that product, you must spend the full $15

Used to roll 100-125 ECBs regularly over two cards but now, its more like 40-70 depending on my mood and sales opportunities. I am lucky to have several stores available with management running the gambit from great(hence clearance tags known) to lazy(great to get clrx stock or stock in general).
Still a good game in town but not like it used to be, which, to be honest, is a good thing. Can't think as fast nor remember as much.
1. If you are ever going to substitute, make sure you choose the option for them to sub with the same brand only. I actually choose, do not substitute and here's why:
2. CVS has a flaw in their system (one of many flaws) where, if they substitute, the system doesn't automatically give the EB, even when it should. You have to call in, after 48 hours, to ask them to issue it. I had it happen a few times before figuring out the issue. My substitutes were still the same brand, just different colors yet it still didn't print. I ended up calling and they sent it but that is still a pain in the butt. In your case, even though it's not your fault, they could argue that you didn't get the EB because you didn't purchase 2 qualifying items.
