Was in the market for these last week and had always thought they were metal but saw they are fiberboard. That doesn't surprise me for an Ikea product but did surprise me at the normal price of $30 a board! Good number of reviews also said they are fragile so I stayed away from it. Just an FYI on the material.

I've never had an issue with them. They're pretty sturdy.

They are plastic though. Maybe the brown ones are fiberboard (like all normal pegboard)

Yeah I'm annoyed at the pricing of the accessories, and the fact that the pegs appear to be non-standard.

But the quality is excellent.

If you have a 3D printer you can 3D print all kinds of accessories in whatever color you want. I printed a lot of stuff for the kids. Like Bey blade holder, Lego mini figure holder, Lego F1 holder, hot wheels car holder, different bins etc. They are cleaner and nice to look at. I have noticed that the white and black colored ones look more like fiber/plastic and sturdy compared to the brown one that looks like cardboard/mdf (may not be cardboard/mdf).

They are fiberboard regardless of color. Under Materials and Care section for Main Parts you can see it says, "Fiberboard, Acrylic paint". https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/skad...8/#content

One of my kids has had a board in their room for probably 5-6 years. It even survived a move. I think they're plenty durable for typical inside the house use. I definitely wouldn't use this in a garage (price per sq foot stinks) or any kind of industrial/maker space.

Thanks for sharing your real world perspective! I would probably bite on these at $10-$15 considering the size but still feels overpriced for what you get (even with the current deal). That's only my personal opinion though, likely a good deal for others.

Very sturdy for what they are
The wild amount of accessories you can 3D print makes it worth it

For garage I use metal boards but for kids items, random things, use skadis

I've got these plastic and silicone hooks that go with the Skadis pegboard that only take 1-hole per hook compared to the Ikea hooks that need more room per hook. Yeah, the boards are nice, but just a bit pricey...

Huge community to 3d print accessories. Have a friend with printer or local library with one? Search skadis on makerworld or yeggi
