The olive oil version is $0.85/can with s/s, and worth the 7 cent upgrade, IMHO. They're my go-to everyday 'dines. A bit mushy but super tasty.

These were much better than I expected for the price (not as good as Season from Costco, but not in the same bracket.) Keeping in mind that there are some real snobs here. My tuna-based expectations of "in water" were completely wrong, and I'm going to have to see a really steep discount to ever buy anything in mustard sauce again.

If you try these and aren't impressed, before you write off sardines entirely I'd recommend trying a good brand boneless/skinless variety packed in olive oil (~$2/tin or so) like the aforementioned Season. My favorite I've found is the Brunswick brand with red pepper, eaten with rice. I was surprised how much of a difference there was between the $1 tins and the $2 tins (though to be fair, I haven't tried an oil-packed version of the cheaper sardines to do a more apples-to-apples comparison).

Don't all the health experts say the skin & bones is healthy for you?

Bones significantly increase the calcium content, but I found the boneless/skinless version to be noticeably tastier (the cheaper bone-in version was still "fine" to me). Not sure if there's any particular benefit to eating the skin.

I rather pay a little more for the Brunswick brand in soybean oil or even the Olive oil, as they do taste way better.
The Beach Cliff brand also tastes better than this one.
