How gory is this movie?
There is a lot of gruesome violence, particularly that tank scene that was mentioned, a scene that just escalates the horror in different ways to the point where you'll turn to each other and ask when will it stop. But what makes the film brutal is the way the film conveys the psychological aspects of war, particularly the feeling of being helpless in the face of tedium, terror, death, and the absurdity of it all. It's an important film (and book), but an ordeal for sensitive viewers.

Very good movie, I'm honestly surprised at how good it was given it's Netflix and their need to diversify everything.

Yes but how gory is it compared to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory?

This is because it's a Netflix movie. Their goal is to get everyone paying 15-20 a month for a subscription. They do not want people owning anything because then you wouldn't need to spend that 15-20 monthly with them. They never offer digital anywhere for that reason and when disc becomes available it's often double the cost of other studios.

I use to buy various 4K discs if they went below $10... but if $12 or $14 or $18 is the new $10, I'm not buying any more 4K discs on a whim if more then $10. I'm only buying what I know I actually want. I'd buy this one for $10 but not any higher since this was not on my radar to buy/watch.

Do folks still buy movies?
yes 4k quality, streaming isn't always available, with digital owned your rights can be taken away at anytime.
