They now all seem to all have crunchy editable cartilage (backbone?).. Long ago unless you were eating the cheapest sardine available they did not have these crunchy parts.

I feel like sardines have always had soft bones present, but I didn't eat those as regularly. I would buy these lemon sardines, but canned salmon is much cheaper and tastes better to me. I get 14.75 oz. cans of Northern Catch salmon locally at Aldi's for about $3.35 per can.
