Check out the guide from Retro Gaming Corps. I've set up multiple devices for friends using this, and it's not that difficult! It gets a little but more complex if you want to install custom firmware, but that's not required at all.

It's really not that bad. There are many tutorials on how to get them set up. I'd suggest getting one with the joysticks in addition to the d-pad. It makes it much easier to play N46 and PS games.

On my 1st device like this, I was very intimidated. At the time I'd never done any modding or hacking before. Fortunately, the community is extremely dedicated and helpful and there are some great tutorials out there, both in video and text.

I'm now up to 5 retro devices and the kids love them (I use them as my excuse lol). Keeps them quiet on road trips.

There are a few variations of the RGXX series with the same performance level, but different form factors (my favorites are the RG40XX-V & RG40XX-H for the big 4" screen). They are all very good, but struggle with N64 and Dreamcast games. PS1 and below runs great, so the lack of analog sticks isn't necessarily a deal-breaker. If you want to play N64, Dreamcast & PSP more consistently, stepping up to a more expensive device like the Mangmi Air X would be worthwhile.

Question, would you recommend this for a 6 years old boy, he is big into Minecraft games.
I really don't know anything about games or consoles. Thanks

Very easy but finding roms can be challenging if you don't know where to look

They are literally a quick google search away unless you are looking for some obscure game

Not really. The guides were easy to follow and I tried 2 different os before I settled on the one I liked.

Yea I settled for the RG35xx H, expectations creep, better processor and full set of controls for a few dollars more.
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32...65681.html should have a 7 dollar coupon off 49 so 47 before tax, basically 10 dollars more.
The RG35xx is fine if you really just stuck to the GBA era and before I guess.

Good deal! The horizontal form factor is really great all around.
