I bought these last year when they were on sale (about the same price). They may not be waterproof but my feet have never been wet after wearing them. I have not worn them in any heavy snow, just 2" max so that is not a "proven" statement. They are very comfortable for boots though. I typically hate any boots because of weight and trying to get the right tightness on the laces, these have been the best for me in both categories. I am thin, and the shaft/upper of the boots are narrow as well, for what that is worth. I've been pleased with the purchase.

definitely says slip resistant but a bit of waterproofing would be nice. I checked out the gore tex line and they look hideous. Costume is probably the only good use for this, and mall cop as you mentioned

According to Q&A's they slip, I also bought Timberland boots before and realized they are super slippery, I don't know what they use in these boots lately but the rubber becomes like butter unless you step straight down like a robot. When you are turning or walking in a building lobby or store that might be wet from rainy day outside, and you happen to just land on edge of your shoe, you slip like you just stepped on buttery floor. Try them with edges of your shoes. This does not happen with some of the other soles, not sure what exactly type is the best by even my normal daily semi-formal shoes don't slip like them.
