Also an 80% battery is not good. You're 1% away from needing a replacement. So consider you may have a $100-$120 repair bill in the near future with these.

Battery health is way overblown. I've seen 78% batteries that have better battery life than 90% batteries. It's just a software estimate and nowhere close to an exact science.
Even under 79% is completely usable and you don't need to replace it. Apple just uses that as a sales tactic. A replacement battery should be less than $80 at any reputable repair shop (including labor)

Very helpful. How would one know if the screen is original or replaced?
It Would be fairly difficult for someone without repair experience to know. The first thing to check would be the repair history in the settings. If it says screen replacement and "unknown part" it has definitely been replaced with a third party part. If it says screen replaced but "genuine" part, it was most likely replaced with an OEM screen, but maybe not.
If it doesnt say any screen repairs, it still may have been replaced. You can transplant the screen IC chip from the original screen to an aftermarket screen and it wouldn't show up in the repair history. The best way to tell would be by comparing color accuracy with a known OEM screen. And lower quality screens will have bigger screen bezels, but they likely aren't using these low quality screens.

I know for a fact that most of these ebay phone refurbishing companies are transplanting IC chips into aftermarket screens at least sometimes.

At the end of the day it's hard to tell for the average person.

Not true. 14 Pro has lightning.
I stand corrected - you're right, 14 was the last with lightning. 13 was the last with a physical SIM card.

I sell and repair iPhones as a side gig. The 13 Pro is the iphone that I would buy as a good goldilocks phone. You still get most of the best features for a low price.

Pro and good quality camera, same exact part as pro max
120 Hz OLED screen
Physical SIM slot
Best color options (Alpine green!!!)
For 1/3 the price of a 16 pro model

Now, as for these sellers, you absolutely need to watch out for replacement parts. A replacement screen would be a massive issue for me on the 13 pro. A replacement camera, not a big deal if its showing genuine (the camera module is replaced as a single part, so not much to go wrong). A replacement battery, really not a huge deal. Probably better than having an older genuine one. Battery tech has come a long way recently, so even the cheapest ones are decent.
Totally agree. Wife and I are still using 13 Pros. They're working well enough for everyday use, still holding good charge, and take phenomenal photos.

We just bought refurbished 14's for our daughters (they're on 12's right now) because they came in about $250 for 256GB models, which was a decent price point for us. We'll see what the quality is like, but the 12's we bought for them were from eBay and they were good quality, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

I dabbled in iPhone repair in the past (replaced batteries and screens on 6/6S/7 models) because my kids are fairly destructive when it comes to electronics, but I wouldn't want to do it as a side hustle. Don't have the patience, and the market is saturated anyway. Kudos to you for the effort!

I recently bought a 13 Pro with 80% battery health and was able to add it to my AppleCare One plan. Once it hit 79%, That allowed me to change the battery without the usual battery replacement charge. Hopefully others can replicate that.

Ive had bad luck ordering from sites like these. I ordered 3 iphone 13 pros, 2 had cameras replaced (not by apple) and one had a new battery put in (but that one was done by Apple). This is a great deal but be careful with replacement parts.
How did you find out?

Isn't the 13 also the last iteration to have a sim card tray?

for the people saying watchout for after-market screens, how would you verify if its an OEM screen or an aftermarket

It used to be settings/general/about and there's a section about parts that would tell you if your screen was an Apple screen. Not sure on the latest iOS as I'm using Android and it's 5 am and I can't check the Apple users phones in the house at the moment.

I don't really care. I just slap on a screen protector and call it done. Matte screen protectors kinda cover most defects and scratches.

The tempered glass screen protectors do hide some scratches as well.

It's just common sense. As long as it's not cracked, I am happy.

I will say the cameras and pro motion might be great but a 16e on sale is a much better in value and performance. Plus it will last much longer and you do not have to worry about having replacement parts or a bad battery.
