What's the "nonsense"? You subscribe, it arrives, you cancel. Guess I have lower standards than you.
It's a system designed to trick you into forgetting to cancel. If it's for some huge discount, I'll consider it. But for 54 cents, why am I wasting my own time?

I set subscriptions to be delivered every 6 months so I have plenty of time to cancel in case I forget. Amazon will email you that a delivery from your subscriptions is getting ready to ship and will allow you to cancel if you don't need it. 54 cents isn't worth it to me either, but it doesn't have to be a huge discount for me to subscribe & save & cancel.

While I understand the wary against subscriptions. This isnt a big deal in my experience. They email you w/ reasonalbe notice something is coming you can skip or not and easily and immediately cancel entire subscription w/o any hurdles. They notify of price changes. I dont see it as applicable here, sure u may not save as much. But people like the convenience. People like not having to remember to buy batteries and be w/o when u do need them cause the crappy fob dies for your car so fast. Does it make it notice things less and price things out less maybe miss out on that sale at costco that hey batteries are cheap there? yes. Thats truly the only drawback IMHO in this scenario. But I hate shopping anyway
