This probably won't work if I try it on my forge, will it?
I try to get the forge over 1,400 degrees. Seems like that is higher than 700 degrees.

these get dirty and unusable in the grill pretty quick. Get an infrared laser thermometer for around $10:

Would be nice though huh? Drilling a hole for a sensor, wiring it with a readout etc -- would love a nice cheap analog temp gauge for the forge. Let me know if you find one.
