Full of Red #40, Yellow #5 and 6, and sucralose. No thanks. Aside from the well known issues with artificial colors, sucralose has been proven genotoxic, and incredibly destructive to the gut microbiome. On average, even small amounts kill over half of your beneficial (really necessary) gut microbiome. Taking this stuff is a step backwards if you're trying to be more fit/healthy. Creatine is cheap. There are plenty of better options for less.

If you have a membership, both Costco and Sam's club sell micronized creatine for a significantly better price than this. Flavored and unflavored varieties are available.

Sucralose has not been proven to be genotoxic - that's a categorically false statement. Sucralose-6-acetate, an impurity which can be present in sucralose and can be a byproduct of sucralose created during heating, is possibly genotoxic, based on one in vitro study from 2023. In particular, the amount of sucralose-6-acetate required to be genotoxic is extremely high (according to the 2nd link, about 900x than an expected dose), which makes it unlikely to be present in normal consumption. Much like saccharin in Tab was labeled cancer-causing years ago but only when force fed to mice in massive quantities.
Sources are cool, so here are the ones I found. The first one summarizes some of the studies that have been done with sucralose. The second one looks very specifically at the 2023 study and points out some issues with it (the video is a little annoying unless you're on meth but is informative).

I'd be interested to read the sources for the destruction of half the gut microbiome because I didn't see anything referencing that, but I didn't do an exhaustive search.

Kappa Nutrition is made in USA and is a good price
That's a good tip, thanks. I needed more powder and Kappa is less than half the price of regular ON right now with the S&S coupon.

I've seen quite a few studies, but here's one example: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/arti...MC8880058/

You're right about the impurity causing genotoxicity, but every sucralose tested exceeded the safe levels.

Recently ordered their base creatine. It has NO scooper or measuring device inside, and is granular, not mixing well and leaving residue on glasses. Disappointing.

You want to look for the creatine labeled "micronized". If it's not micronized, it's going to be granulated like that, and it will be grainy and not mix well.

Cool, thanks, I'll read some more. It doesn't seem like the science is settled though, but then again, nutrition stuff seems to change with each year. Since I do consume both sucralose and ace-K (which is in some of the articles I saw), I need to educate myself a little better, especially since one study showed an impact on diabetics but not non-diabetics. And another study showed no gut microbiome effect at all. 🤔

Nearly all of the independent studies found a significant impact on gut microbiome. With scientific studies in general, but especially with nutrition studies, it's prudent to read the conflicts of interest section. Over 95% of nutrition studies are funded by the processed food industry, and studies funded by an impacted industry are nearly always heavily biased towards that industry. It's the reason it took decades for the Attorney General to finally say that smoking is addictive and causes cancer. 98+% of smoking studies were funded by the tobacco industry, and nearly all of them found that smoking wasn't addictive and didn't cause cancer. I'll agree that the science isn't settled, but that's because science is fundamentally never settled. Most "settled science" over our history has been proven wrong. The best we can do is use our best judgment with the knowledge we have now. It's completely anecdotal, but I felt noticeably better (especially mood and energy levels) when I cut out sucralose. Much of the research is now pointing to the gut microbiome playing a major role in mood and mental health (most serotonin is made in the stomach), so that could have played a part for me, or it could've been something else. Who knows?
