You want a powerful workstation? Go for a legion or the HP OMEN MAX 16 that was just posted.
You want a thin and light with a good battery life? Then go for it.
It's all about performance VS thinness, you choose what fits your needs.

Not sure if the power supply nerfs the gpu too much on this modelβ¦

Credit to this one though, it's only 4.6 lbs if the specs listed on Best Buy are correct. So pretty light as far as gaming rigs go
I have a Legion 7i Gen 10 (4.4 lbs btw, so thinner and lighter) with a 5070 undervolted from 115 watts stock all the way down to 80 watts and it's a beast.
So this 5080 laptop undervolted to 100-115 watts IS a monster, but would probably thermal throttle if left at stock settings.
Higher power consumption doesn't always result in better performance, especially with thermal limitations of a laptop.

I played Khazan: The First Berserker in 4k max settings with 40ms latency at 120fps (40 fps native, 3x) while drawing only 80 watts, and it is superior to my PS5 & XSX despite using a fraction of the power. Similar story for Cyberpunk, Wukong, & every game I've thrown at it.
Surprisingly little real world difference in gaming vs my desktop 5090, truth be told.
We on Slickdeals all enjoy saving on utilities, so if we can get 95% of the gaming experience on ~15% of the power draw, it's a no brainer IMO.
Inflation and power hungry AI data centers are driving up electric bills nationwide, so save electricity when & where you can. π
