I wear mine on the beach. But they seem to hold sand forever. Make sure if you're throwing them in a backpack or something you put them into a separate closed bag. You'll be knocking sand out of them for a while.

Remeber the 80's, when a guy could stand in the river during summer, and fish wearing Teva sandals that actually had real soles made from real tread with real lug patterns so you wouldn't slip and fall? I do. Cant do that with todays Tevas with zero tread soles. If teva went back to thick, sturdy healthy lug soles I would still purchase them.

Look, I really love my Tevas but I also really miss the days when they went on clearance for $15.
Found a pair for $9 ish at Nordstroms Rack in December but definitely uncommon.

fat chance I'm sure, but does anybody have experience wearing these over a pair of fishing waders with the neoprene stockings?

I still buy my 90's version Teva's pretty regularly in very good/ almost new condition searching through eBay. A little shoe glue for the glue deterioration in the soles if needed, some sandal cleaner and saddle soap for the leather and they are good to go.
I totally understand. Ive searched hours in todays world, for thick lug tread sandals and they just dont exist anymore..

Paid $50 a few yrs ago for a trip to the DR. Ziplined, hiked, operated an atv. Thicker sole, traction, and comfortable than my 80s/90s pair.

If you are looking for really comfortable closed toe sandals, try the Hoka Hopara
https://www.hoka.com/en/us/mens-t...19523.html

Some color or the other is always on sale (currently the oat one is 30% off)

I have been fishing in the Terra Fi 5 version many times. One thing to pay special attention to is these do not have neoprene liners like the Terra Fi 5 do. The model Hurricane XLT2 may look the same, but they are missing the liners inside the sandal. It is very hard to notice this in pictures. I do not suggest this particular model for ANYTHING without having socks or neoprene stockings in the water. Yes this sounds stupid but without that liner between your feet and the sandal you will scratch your foot to death when wet. My gf has the hurricane model and a couple of miles walking (while wet) caused her feet to basically bleed and chafe. To more directly answer your question I would not use this model at all without neoprene of some kind.

Everyone considering these pay very close attention to the fact there is NO neoprene liners in these, unlike the Terra Fi 5. This makes a huge huge difference, especially in water. While this is pretty cheap, the difference in models cannot be understated and is very difficult to see in pictures online. If you plan on getting these wet ever do not purchase these, upgrade to ones with neoprene, your feet will thank you. Teva has become pretty expensive, but this isn't something you should cheap out on if you are going in and out of water / fishing.

awesome, thank you so much! i would be using them over my waders that have built-in neoprene stockings to walk from the car to the lake, and would then be putting a pair of flippers over these to use with my inflatable belly boat. seems like these would be perfect for that application
