I am tempted to get this as leverage again Comcast. They kept jacking up the price but I don't have viable alternatives. If I get off Comcast for a few months, I will be a "new" customer, and get better prices.
Sounds like a solid idea, and when you switch back to comcast you can keep the starlink deactivated and only activate it for traveling or use it in the future for another comcast discount.

No kidding. Yesterday they kicked all of us off the $10/10gb plan that was only retired about four months ago. They usually let people stay on retired plans for at least 12 months, and upwards of 18. Now the only option is $5/mo Standby unlimited 0.5mbps, or $50/100gb.
Don't really need now. Waiting to see what Leo pricing will be.
It took Elon 5+ years to deploy around 10,000 starlink satellites in orbit and that's not even close to complete yet because he wants to have 42,000 starlinks out there. How many did Bezos have right now? He currently have 200 experimental ones, am I right? He's going to take 5+ years to be able to operate like starlink now. And by that time, starlink will be so much advanced.
I think the deal here is that it has free (often same day) shipping vs $20 for conventional shipping on starlink's website, and the cost is otherwise the same.
Anyone here know whether you can activate straight to Standby mode for $5/month from purchasing the Mini through retailers like Home Depot? All search results are mixed, and it seems to be leaning towards a no. There is no Standby plan directly, just the regular roaming plans to which you can switch to standby after. Because of how their billing works and even if you switch to Standby plan right after you sign up, that wont take effect until next billing cycle meaning you are still on the hook for the $50/month minimum roaming plan then $5/month thereafter with standby. Unforseen costs that people don't really talk too much about.

Yeah I noticed on STARLINK site that the Mini is also $199 (didn't check for shipping though), and it seems to force you to sign up for a plan with no option to buy the device only. I wonder if you cancel the plan what will happen, like you get to keep it since you paid the $199 for it, or you are required to return it, and they refund the $199? Wasn't super clear on their site.
