  • Experience the allure of Japan's cultural capital with a stay at this boutique hotel, which seamlessly blends bold Parisian design with Kyoto's modern art movements. Centrally located alongside the Kamo River, the hotel is just a stone's throw from ancient temples, the historic Gion district and the bustling Nishiki Market.
  • The hotel's dining scene takes centre stage, with Grand Café FAUCHON offering casual French cuisine alongside views of the Higashiyama Mountain Range, while Salon de Thé FAUCHON blends the ambience of a Parisian-style afternoon tea with a Japanese tea ceremony.
  • For cocktails with a view, head to Le Bar FAUCHON, or take some time to unwind with a signature treatment at Le Spa FAUCHON. Outside the hotel's doors, explore the traditional wooden houses of the neighbourhood, experience a maiko or geiko show in an authentic teahouse and savour the flavours of Kyoto's rich gastronomy.

How is this a deal? You can get a decent hotel in Kyoto for $120 a night.

You can Airbnb traditional Japanese houses in Kyoto for pretty good rates, much cooler experience.

We had a grocery store down the street, we bought sushi, pastries, and Japanese sodas and sat around in our kimonos watching sumo wrestling. Was one of the highlights of our trip.

For the poors and barbarians with no culture please continue to stay at APA and other business hotels. For those with some semblance of taste this is an excellent luxury hotel with all amenities and incomparable service to elevate your experience in the ancient capital of Kyoto.
Internet Cafe and Love hotels FTW then.

Why would you eat at the hotel? That's just wasting time and stomach space, just walk around and eat at the local restaurants. I stayed at the Mitsui Garden hotel, centrally located, nice looking hotel. There is a Starbucks nearby that faces a temple, complete zen while sipping on coffee hahaha. Also, only a couple blocks from the Pokémon cafe in Kyoto. Bring your walking shoes because I averaged 25k steps in Kyoto.

The hotel room we stayed in Shinjuku was facing a cemetery. And Expedia did not mention it at all.
Well, at least you got a window

You're obviously a cheapskate. Who the heck does Kyoto on a day trip? We went there last year and 2 days didn't feel like enough time.

Furthermore, unless you're booking for a large group of people that most hotels there can't accommodate, there's no good reason to do Airbnb. These Airbnbs are a huge part of the issue why locals are complaining about the over-tourism in Japan. Most of these Airbnbs, particularly in Osaka, are owned by foreign investors and they contribute to rising housing costs.
What a condescending post. People can be on different timelines and have different ways they want to spend their time while on vacation. As far as Airbnb, there are plenty of reasons to choose that over a hotel, in any part of the world.

Eating breakfast at a hotel is quite convenient in Japan and they're quite good. I'm not saying do that every day but at least look at the menu/reviews and try it one or two days. Please don't eat breakfast at Starbucks....if anything McDonalds taste better there.

People who go to Kyoto stay in Kyoto or Osaka since they're close to each other. We tend to stay at Osaka because there's more shopping and then go to Kyoto for 1 day (you can hire a private driver on Klook for 8-10hr and customize your itinerary for a decent price per person esp if you have 4-5 ppl). Lots of walking in Japan if you plan to take public transportation we like to book a hotel right next to a major train station like Hankyu Respire Osaka.

Any tips on how to find a good Airbnb in Japan?
Same as everywhere else! Read EVERY Review, don't pick one with few or NO reviews!
Read the description thoroughly and look carefully at every picture. Then send owner all the questions you have and see how they respond. If all is good, it's a winner. We have never picked a bad Airbnb all over the world, it's not that hard..
