Wait...is this different from TPLink Kasa? Would I need a whole nother app for this?
Tapo app can handle both Kasa & Tapo devices

I bought 4 pack a year ago and one of them is broken already. It does not worth the money to pay for the shipping and send it back for warranty. Another interesting point, I cannot use them for Home Assistant and my thread hub, either. It seems some of the early Tapo products only works with TP Link thread hub.
i have the 4 pack, you have to get the "matter compatible" ones, not these... mine work perfect with home assistant. they are $33.98 on amazon right now. I bought mine in July 2025 for $37.99.

I mentioned the Platinum certification because he was blaming TP-Link on his Home Assistant problems.
Every company can buy the Platinum certification from any organization. These certification means nothing.
Have you tried them with Home Assistant? These P115s do not work with Home Assistant natively. Actually, older Kasa products work better with Home Assistant.

Yes, I have both P115 and P110, they just work in Home Assistant. Integrating Matter plugs directly without the app can be tricky, but the proprietary models are completely straightforward and have no issues (as long as they can talk to the TP-Link servers). Not bad for low priced devices.
