"Shovelware?" One of the most highly played, longest lasting, and respected franchises in PC gaming? LOL...okay.

Even if you had zero desire to play any Civ game....it certainly ain't SHoVeLwArE by any measure.

At this exact moment on Steam more than twice as many people are playing Civ 5 than Civ 7. Civ 3 also has double the player count of 4. Each game has its own specific fans. 5 is my personal favorite simply because it's the first one I played so I have the most hours in it. I LAN'd 6 a bit as well but it never hit the same for me. I also used to LAN Railroads! during college so I have lots of fun memories of that game. Pirates! is also fantastic. This is an incredible collection if you've never played any of these games before.

There's 5 different generations of Civilization in this bundle. Would anyone want to go back and play earlier iterations?

I've played at least 200 hours of each Civ game, since Civ 3 (excluding the newest one) and I've never found myself going back to the older ones. I know that Civ V in particular has some loyalists, but I can't imagine someone needing to own all the games in the series.

That having been said, I think Sid Meier's Railroads is a lot of fun and frequently overlooked. It's a really fun building/simulation game.

civ6 added too many complications imo over civ3 era. I don't know when that all changed, but being unable to stack units on same tile and just the extra little policy info, etc turned me off

Are you suggesting there are people with steam accounts that don't have at least some version of civs 345 and 6? 😆

I think it's weird that they never brought back the culture takeovers that they had in Civ 4. The only time a Culture victory was ever fun. 4 was probably my favorite for single player, 5 for multiplayer, but only after they finished the game with the expansions. I tried very hard to like 6, but after at least half a dozen games, including 2 with all the expansions, I thought it was the worst. Then 7 came out....
Also, a Civ 7 coupon is a hilarious throw-in with this. "How can we make this bundle seem more valuable without actually costing us any money? Oh yeah, give people a coupon nobody will ever use!"

Add a just a couple more titles and I'd have basically seen my entire life flash before my eyes.
Also, in case anyone is about to spend $15 just to get the 40% coupon to buy Civ 7: doing so will get you this bundle + Civ7 for 42+15=$57. Or you can go to eneba.com and get the Steam key for $38. Just saying, the bundle's a great deal if that's what you're looking for. But the Civ7 coupon isn't worth the cost of going about it this way.
