77.3 GB of storage needed BTW. I know that this would cost more money to have a cart with all the content on it, but man would I love it for a game this large.

I didn't say download. I'm talking about an installation from a compressed file on the cartridge.
My point still stand that devs would not do that due to the cartridge being pretty pricey and is why they have never done it before. Also installing from a compressed file will require additional storage space which defeats the purpose of wanting the game to be fully on the cartridge without having to download/install anything.

They've "never" done it before? What? Countless games have had to be installed from physical discs, always on PC and regularly since PS4 and Xbox One. https://www.howtogeek.com/why-do-...downloads/

Nintendo has also never offered game-key cards before, so that doesn't mean that something new couldn't happen. Unzipping and installing a game off the physical cartridge could make physical game collectors happy, while overcoming the limitations of the media format.

Again, it's what other platforms have been doing for years.

You sound like a Nintendrone so I don't really expect you to comprehend this concept.

I was talking specifically about nintendo and installing from physical disc is essentially no different from code in box or game key card. Also game key card and code in box makes downloading/installing part of a game from a cartilage a waste a money, as they don't have to pay for higher read speed of the cartridge for the new console, which would cost MORE money. Game devs are not going to bother with that as well since they don't give af about you or anyone other than making more profits. Additionally, game key card also is a physical copy that can also make those physical game collector "happy".

You sound full of yourself, so I don't expect you fully understand that in order for a company to maximize their profits they will choose the option that cost less, such as both code in box and game key card. Game key card and code in box are newer and cheaper options so companies are not going to choose the more expensive option when releasing their game in a physical format/box.

Also how am I a Nintendrone, when what I've said so far have been matter of facts? Regardless of what you or I believe to be the better option, companies will 99% of the time choose the option that brings in the most profits.

[edit1: grammar]
[edit2: The link you shared said nothing about unzipping files, as consoles from Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo, can't even read zipped files in the first place. Nor has there been zipped files on discs for console before.]

Except game key cards do not make physically collectors happy.

Game publishers should worry about keeping you happy, you're their customer and without you they will be closing their doors.

I called you a Nintendrone because everything you say is in specific reference to Nintendo consoles as if there is no other platform. You talk as if something on a Nintendo console is the only way things have ever been and ever will be. You specifically said "physical games have never needed to be installed" and I debunked that already, because I think outside of Nintendo.

I'm using a general term "unzipped" in referencing compressed files. Xbox and PlayStation install compressed files off a disc.

So in this kind of scenario, can I purchase this in USA and gift to someone in Japan? Would they be able to redeem using JP Nintendo account? Kind of a unique scenario I suppose but I always wondered about it.

Purchase the cart only if the game is there. If it's a code in box, might as well buy digital. Why bother?

Compression has been around for decades. That why Nintendo 64 games had "load times".
