(Although I do admit somewhere around 1989 I did think that CDs were too bulky and easily scratched to replace cassettes and my first portable CD player in 1992 was kind of unreliable.).
Honestly I think I've rebought all of their first 5 albums for $5 over the years, all from Amazon.

Yeah, cassettes had a nice run, but were technically inferior to CDs in every way (except storage). No comeback needed there. It was a stepping stone.
