I have an eco drive from 2002 and it still works without any battery replacements. I'm tempted to get this, but mine still has a lot of life left.

A lot of watches, when the battery is dying, will tick every two seconds to save on battery life and serve as a warning that you're going to need to replace the battery soon.

Not saying that's what his is doing, but that's one way to tell. I had a Timex do that for two years before finally dying lol, I guess it's not an exact science.
