Because everyone copied the Lian Li 011 or whatever came before that, but as far as I removed that was the first cases to start the side vent craze, which NZXT also jumped on.

No front intake fans is just weird.... Are air flow from the side intake just gonna take a right angle turn and hit the mobo and GPU? WTF

It does if it's got nowhere else to go. You can absolutely create a wind tunnel effect by blocking off the top and bottom vents. It won't be as efficient due to needing to turn 90 degrees but the loss in efficiency wouldn't be significant. The GPU and CPU heatsinks will be disturbing the flow anyways.

The top front fan would be completely useless if used as exhaust without a radiator. Best to block it off and only use the 2 top rear and the back positions as exhaust if using this case with an entirely air-cooled setup.
