Phuket is beautiful but be sure to check out the nearby Islands. when you think it can get any better, it does. I recommend Koh Phi Phi which is about 1 hr speed boat or 2 hour ferry from Phuket. Super gorgeous untouched feel to it. great food and culture, more private than Phuket and will not break the bank. As with most Southeast Asian countries, avoid the summer time as they get horribly humid and have monsoon type of downpours.

My buddy went there before covid, got trapped over there because of covid, and he never left because he loves it so much. He is very happy, made lots of friends, and even travels to other countries like China to make extra money with wholesale business.

I just flew to Taiwan (15.5 hours from LA) in normal economy. There was a guy and the most well behaved little 3 year old girl in the aisle with me. She basically watched her tablet and slept the whole time, didn't make a peep.

Upgrading seats is so pricey, I just tough it out back with my fellow poor folks.

Last time I went to Thailand there was a 11hr flight to Tokyo with an 8hr layover. Which is great because the international terminal has a hotel in it. After a good nap and some great Japanese food it was another 8hrs to Bangkok. Loooooong day.
Haven't been to Phuket yet but my brother retired there. I don't need the accommodations just a good deal on flights that are not JAL.

Food and drinks are very cheap in Phuket. Book a decent hotel and you can spend the same as this deal for a week. Not particularly great deal
