I'm going to say f*** these guys. I tried to set up an account and fill out the application and then I get the you need to call 24 hours a day/7 days a week to customer service. So, I call and they basically read back all my information that I filled out online. Then, the rep says the account needs to be reviewed by a certain department and you have to call back during their operating hours. I told the lady, you make it seem like it's an easy online application and takes a few minutes and now it needs to be reviewed by another department. If they don't want my $100K then screw them. I've never had this hard of a time setting up an online savings account. I'd recommend to stay away from them.
I had a similar experience the past couple days. I completed the online form to open an account on Saturday. Crickets. Not even an email acknowledgment. I guessed I must've typed my email wrong, so I tried again Sunday. Also crickets. I called yesterday and was told there's a hang up because I have a GM Mastercard, which is through Goldman. The rep couldn't explain why, only that this is a known issue for GM cardholders. He tried finding a path forward, but ultimately threw up his hands. I said I'm happy to take my $50k elsewhere. He responded "I hope I don't get fired." I'd already moved cash out of other savings accounts in preparation for funding a new Marcus account. How odd.
