Remember when XBL Gold could be had for $30/yr? Pepperidge Farms remembers...

(Also, OP, your post isn't mathing: 74.99 - 15 = 59.99, not 64.99, however, the price is listed correctly. MS just bumped the yearly cost from 74.99 -> 79.99 for Essentials/Core/Gold)

I got the trial of the essential level, and honestly I don't see the benefit of even having it. Of the few games that are available at that level, personally I see 1 worth trying and if it was removed tomorrow I wouldn't even consider purchasing it.

40%. So this would be almost 5 months or roughly $13.50 a month.

I really wish Microsoft would just lower the regular price of GamePass Ultimate instead of having all these weird loopholes and hoops people have to jump through to get a deal.

GamePass Ultimate is a *great* service, but it's priced about 15% too high for widespread adoption for casual gamers and families.

That is not going to happen. MS really wanted people on GPU as it makes them more $$.

I know, but $30/month standard pricing is just too high at a time when people are increasingly starting to disconnect from the internet and reconsider all their monthly subscriptions.

$20-$25 is an easy sell for what you get with GPU, but the psychological weight of a $29.99/month subscription is massive, especially when you're comparing it to things like Netflix and AppleTV are in the $15-$20 range.

AT MINIMUM they ought to offer regular bi-annual sales @ around $24.99/month to pull new subscribers and keep cost-conscious consumers locked into the subscriptions during new game droughts (which are happening more and more often) but it seems like the C-suite goons at MS just don't understand consumer psychology at all.

I believe they incorrectly stated $ vs %. It should be 15% off.
I can't believe I'm actually responding to this, but if you look at the NE link, you'll see the pricing shows as $79.99 - $15 = $64.99.

Again, it's all good since the post states it's $64.99, and that's what it is after coupon.

It does kinda suck though on MS' part as the previous "Core" was priced at $74.99/yr, and now the Essentials is priced at $79.99/yr, and from some quick Googling, it doesn't provide anything new/extra.

I'm still riding a 3yr deal from back when there was a promotion on Ultimate and conversion and I want to say something to do with Monster energy drinks or Doritos maybe? But, as @yeti79 said- there's no way I'd justify XBU @ $30/mo now. No way it's worth that.

Oh, you're right. I was only responding to the specific post with the incorrect starting amount. My bad... Confused

That sounds lower than the other deals I've been seeing. Is that after doing 1 month sign up and then conversion?
