its not a question if receiver and speakers will sound better, of course they will, but sound bars take less space, are easy to connect and don't need to run cables.

Buy the package and sell the new bar as new to offset the price.

Probably unpopular here. But get a low cost receiver and center channel speaker for about the same money. This is what I did and I have to say the sound quality is so much better that I am getting unsolicited feedback from anyone that visits about how good the sound is even without noticing the change from a soundbar.
Buy an AVR, and 7.2.4 speaker setup with bass shakers and the sound quality and experience will be better than yours. Of course a center channel with larger drivers will typically sound better than a small boxed driver plastic sound bar!

Are you saying add a receiver and center channel speaker alone? Then you don't get the surround sound and sub benefits this deal gives you. Now if you mean a full surround package with a 5/7/9 channel receiver, R/C/L, surround speakers and a sub, completely agree.
Technically this is just one "speaker" and kinda receiver built in.
It's also a simulated surround not an actual one, obviously.

These sound bars have multiple speakers and a subwoofer. Sure, the surround is created by these speakers rather than them being physically in different areas of the room, but the soundbar in this deal has 9 drivers and a separate subwoofer (see the link below).

I don't get why there aren't a Class D style amp that is 3.1 instead of 2.1. I get 2.1 for bookshelf speakers and a sub but a small left, center, right, sub combo would be so good for a basic tv setup compared to sound bars but you pretty much have to get a larger and expensive 5.1 channel receiver.
It's due to lack of demand. Very few people would be interested in that setup, most would either want the simplicity of a soundbar or the quality of a full 5.1 (or higher) system.

It's like with most products, you get what you pay for. If a 3.1 and 5.1 soundbar are the same price, most of the time the 3.1 will have better sound quality.

There lies the common issue, you're conflating a speaker & driver.

The drivers/woofers in this ONE soundbar(speaker) are in one location.
Per that link, those are 2.25"/4" in size! & that so called subwoofer is a 13x13x13" 10" woofer powered by 80 watts(the 160W is peak)!

It's an apples n oranges comparison on surround differences but you always get people trying to do it, on both sides!

I don't know about conflating.... The way a soundbar is designed is different from a pair of speakers in a typical surrround sound setup. The different drivers do the jobs of the various speakers in a conventional setup. It isn't the same as a front right speaker with a tweeter/midrange/woofer. They all work together to give the benefits of seperate speakers with a single physical unit (well two as there is a true subwoofer). Are they as powerful as an AV receiver with seperate speakers? Nope, but they do a great job in their own right. It just depends on what a person wants to do. I have a 5.1 theater setup with a Yamaha AV receiver . It uses 5 in ceiling speakers and a sub under my couch. Works great. I also have a JBL soundbar on a TV in my basement which does a convicing job with a lot less work. Just unboxed, plugged in and turned it on.

You're conflating again.
This discussion is not about what someone is convinced of, no debating that.
It is about two completely different surround designs.

Unless a soundbar can defy physics.
That ONE speaker can not "do the jobs" of a traditional speaker setup!
It's designed to simulate it mainly through technology.

Anyone that claims they are comparable did not properly implement their traditional speaker setup imo.

I didn't interpret chickdr as saying soundbar and separate components system are comparable. Sounded to me like they were explaining how a soundbar simulates a separate components system, not that they are comparable, it was stated that their main component system sounds great and that the soundbar in different room sounds good for what it is.

I bought this over the holidays for my family room. I'm extremely impressed with the quality of the sound for the compactness of this setup and the simplicity of the hookup. I needed a new TV with better eArc implementation, but my old TV was 12 years old.

To each his own. A receiver and a center channel is going to give you mono sound. You are also not going to get the full power of the receiver going to the single center channel, just the amount allocated to the center channel. A center speaker also probably will not give you as deep bass as this 3.1.2 setup with a dedicated sub. I'll take stereo over mono any day. This is more than stereo as it has left, center, right and 2 atmos height speakers. Sound wizardry has come a long way. I remember picking up my kid's Nintendo DS many years ago. I was blown away by the spaciousness of the sound from those 2 tiny speakers. The Nintendo engineers knew exactly where the DS would be held in relation to your ears and took full advantage of it. Soundbars do the same thing (I.e. they optimize the sound assuming the sound bar will be above or below the TV and you'll be sitting in front of the TV). Some soundbars even have settings to tweak their sound depending on if you place the soundbar above the tv or below it sitting on a stand. I think Klipsch engineers know what they are doing and I think you'd be hard pressed to find better surround sound at this price.

Picked up one of these... So far, not that impressed with the sound. Great looking hardware though. Solid and well built. The app is nice too.
If I keep it... it will definitely require some tuning.
