Note that many reviews say the handle wobbles. The fix is to add a few more lock washers to the screw at the cartridge. Good price.

It'll replace existing Positemp (1222), but not Moentrol (1200/1225) and nothing else. If you pull your existing one to turn it on, it's Moentrol. If you turn it, it's Positemp. They're not interchangeable.

Also note that unlike the Moentrol valves, Positemp doesn't have the ability to trickle hot and cold water together if you're worried about your pipes freezing in the cold. If it's on, it's on.

Moen has several different valves. If you have a MPACT system most homes from 2000s-current have this. Some have MCore valves (their newer line) YMMV on whether this will work

Delta is much more foolproof since based on the age of your home any of their valves will work as long as you have their universal fit valve.

But for a trim this is a great price. I prefer spending more and getting seperate temp and pressure controls but for rentals or guest bathrooms this is sufficient.

This should easily replace an existing Moen handle trim (likely not other manufacturers' products).

Thanks! I wasn't sure anyone would comment on this rather obscure deal. Wink

Just adding to this one: we have had this for 5 years, in our experience no wobbling. I did not install it though so not sure if my plumber did this lock washer solution. No issues so far.

Moen Gibson Chrome Posi-Temp Pressure-Balancing Modern Shower...

EXCEPT this is NOT a posi-temp pressure balancing modern shower... that is already expected that you have this and made by Moen.

If all you need is a new TRim... but seriously, if youre trim is no good, chances are you are about ready to change out valve...might as well get complete system. I personally only buy Simons.

Do you have any recommendations on shower systems that provide both the pressure and the temperature separately?

Can this be used to replace the old fashioned type control that was a round handle that you pulled out to increase water flow and rotated for temperature control?

I need the backplate of this (with holes at 2 and 7) but with the handle that will work with a moentrol valve. Its actually just a small piece that goes inside the handle that handles the interface with the valve so if only they had that piece also for moentrol

No. If that was Moen, it was Moentrol. This is Positemp. Two different (incompatible) systems.
