Is it the cadence sensor that when in a higher gear, can cause more violent torque - especially with 20"x3" tires and close to babies and old ladies - that even veteran riders have to watch out for?

I have this bike and yes the pedal assist kicks in way too hard for many people, however you can just unplug the cable and use throttle only if desired.
The brakes are also soft so I upgraded the front brake, and the shock is not made for anything other than light bumps.
Other than that it's a great bargain at this price. It goes almost 20 miles on one charge and hits 25mph on throttle alone. I'd recommend for riders 5'10 and under since it's small.

Fyi, illegal to sell or even advertise to New Jersey after S-4834 was passed in January.

Thanks to the kids on surrons and the like getting themselves killed, rather than do anything targeted, NJ requires ALL ebikes to require a license (meaning riders must be 15+).

The law also says anything that has more than 750W and/or can go more than 28mph (or can be unlocked to go more than 28mph) can not be sold or advertised for sale in New Jersey until 2028. Any "electric motorized bicycles" already in state will require insurance (which doesn't exist yet) on top of the license.

Anyone in NJ with politicians/sheriffs who are up for elections (or like attention) should be prepared for a couple of performative arrests and convictions.

I really hate this timeline. I have a 350W ebike and I love it. I have no trouble letting my kid use it in our neighborhood. However there are two kids with e-cycles equipped with pedals that I am sure are going to ruin it for the others. At this point, its just a matter of time before this kind of blanket ebike law spreads.

I just tested it said the code doesn't meet the minimum purchase amount, so I changed code number to 50/45/40, So lucky, DTG40 can work well, you guys can have a try as well.

Try the code now, it should work. I had mentioned the wrong code previously.

I bought this bike a few months ago and can't believe they are still selling it knowing how dangerous it is. Please do not buy this bike! The company admitted to me that the controllers don't work properly but refused to give me a refund. Instead they suggested that I use it as a regular bike without pedal assist. Umm, no. It is very heavy and I bought an e-bike specifically because I wanted a bike with pedal assist. The "pedal assist" is either a 0 or a 10 and there is no in between. It lurches forward with quite a force and I was launched off of it. There is no safe way to ride this bike. You will either hurt yourslef or the person you run into when it is lurching uncontrollably. Shame on the manufacturer for not fixing a known issue and shame on AliExpress for allowing this vendor to sell a dangerous product. There is a reason this bike is marked down so much from its original selling price.

I bought this bike several weeks ago with the intent of putting it together, riding it a couple of times and then selling it. Shipping was very fast, and it is a heavy box, so if they deliver on a rainy day, make sure to get the bike inside quickly so no water gets inside it.
It's relatively easy to put together, and the instructions and videos on YouTube show you what to do. There are holes that the electronics' wires come through in a box at the bottom of the bike, so the best thing to do is take apart the pedal assist cable, then at least stuff electrical tape over and in the box to keep water from entering while you ride. The first puddle you go through can get in and short out the bike without weatherizing this box
I'm 6'-6" 225 and the bike was not ridiculously small for me. It's surprisingly strong - pedaling up a hill with no throttle I could go about 8mph. Using all throttle I got up to at least 15mph, and that's up a steep, long hill near my house.
Check previous threads for more information on this bike because there are a lot of extremely helpful posts! For the money this bike is pretty cool.

That's good to know, but it seems like this isn't just an isolated issue. It seems to be an issue with a lot of these manufacturers. So it feels almost like you're gambling on what you get. Could be fine or could be bad. I suppose that's the risk you take when trying to save on cost.
