This TCL 55 inch Roku TV is mainly a budget in store pickup with a decent picture for bedrooms and casual viewing. The low price has shown up all over the map, from $125 pallets to $198, $205, and $228, so the real value depends on the store. Setup can be annoying because Roku sign in is needed for updates and registration, and some setups have stayed offline after the internet cable was removed. There are also reliability concerns around Roku TV screen failures and warranty gaps, making it a very location specific buy.

  • The TV can work well as a bedroom option with a good picture quality for the price paid.

  • Some stores show lower in-store pricing than the headline, including $198 in multiple ZIP locations.

  • The deal price can be verified by scanning the TV in-store using a Walmart app.

  • Inventory checks across nearby stores can reveal multiple units available at clearance pricing.

  • In-store pricing and availability can vary widely by location, including cases where the inventory system shows a $0 price.

  • The TV setup can require signing into Roku for updates, and unplugging the internet cable can leave the TV offline afterward.

  • Roku TV usage can limit app options, and it has reportedly caused problems for Fire sticks.

  • Roku TV quality can be YMMV, with reports of screen malfunctions like black screens with audio and warranty coverage gaps for the display panel.

I saw three or four at $120 in-store a week ago. I felt that creature in me who wanted to buy knowing I have no need, but I pushed it back down.

I bet that tv would outlast five 300 dollar tvs today.

With inflation, the $800 tv is now $1500

So you can buy a $300 tv every 2 years for 10 years and still be ahead, since $300 in 10 years will be worth less than $300 today

Sometimes I like to take a step back and appreciate just how cheap TV's have gotten. Not sure where it ends but feels like one day I'm going to buy a 100" TCL for $299
Yeah it really is amazing, as long as you keep in mind the geopolitical, environmental, and privacy factors that bring us insanely cheap TVs. I'd rather the cost of living come down instead.

55 4k for $138. 20 years ago that would have been $1500, (in today's dollars 4000) the size of a small bus, 800 pounds, with garbage viewing angles and contrast, and only 720p HD not 4k.

and yet, people will complain like this is some offense against them and all humanity.

Amazing what you can buy today. When my family finally bought a big color console, up from our 21" B&W, it was 25". Man that screen was huge, we were all so in awe. It cost more than $138 too, at least a few hundred.
I remember when my mom and I got a new tv when ours broke. It was either 1986 or 1987. Bought it from REX electronics. It was a 20" Sharp crt tv. It was on sale for $459. Which, according to the inflation calculator,is $1309 in 2026 money.

There were pallets of them at my local Walmart for $125. A couple of weeks ago they had deep discounts larger and smaller screens. This is definitely YMMV. I think these models were part of Walmart's Christmas specials that were leftover.
