Id be careful w these or any shoe w thicker soles. I work in Healthcare and would be concerned w toe catching floor/rug/own feet for more elderly. The thick cushion sounds good for comfort, but when you add thickness to shoes, might also increase risk of ankle rolling. I personally had more ankle instability when I wore running shoes daily. Now only when im running. Never thought I'd like flatter/zero drop shoes for daily/work use. Just my $0.02.

1080 v13s are the most comfortable shoes Ive ever worn. Ive been wearing ultraboots exclusively for a decade prior. Im never going back. I havent tried the v14s yet since my 13s are still going strong.

I wouldn't buy them for him without having him try on a pair. They are really high and squishy and feels very weird initially. I now recommend having seniors try shoes in person or from places that have super easy returns. Joe's New Balance really is for people who already know their size and fit because returns are not easy. Sizes and widths really are weird with New Balance. What I often will do is have my mom try them on at full price and then we will buy them on sale after. She says tons of ladies in her walking group refuses to wear new shoes her kids buy them because they have one issue or another with them. And they all keep wearing their old shoes. It has gotten increasingly difficult to order because New Balance keeps changing their shoes every year. It used to be that I could just order the same pair of shoes every year but now its a whole thing to get sized. These shoes are too expensive even on sale to just take a chance on them.

1080 should be good. But anything with more cushion can be unstable for them. Best thing is have them visit a new balance store, get exact measurements (it really matters, they have best devices) take pics of measurements. Try different shoes in store based on those sizes, make note of the models and sizes (sizings slightly vary based on models for instance the made in usa are usually longer and wider than others). Then you shop for them these deals with their model and size.
I did that for my parents, the 2 shoes they loved in store were the 1080v13 and the 990 walking shoe (i think 992 it was ). In store were full price about 350 together including tax. Bought in online deals for about 150 total and they love their shoes.


Also dont forget CB, 10%+ some sites

They do, but keep in mind you pay for the shipping and shipping these size boxes is expensive these days. UPS wants $50 to ship these back! I'm sure there are some shipping hacks I'm unaware of, but I'm definitely burnt on this deal after finding these don't fit me well.
