Need 12 months active service to unlock the phone, not 60 days.

Abso-freaking-lutely

But to be fair also a fair bit more, at least twice as much even if only paying for the straight talk silver plan and getting it for free... if that's still around

Still worth the difference though

yes, but I kind of like to use dedicated phone for emulation, since emulator drains battery fast. That being said, I probably purchased over several dozens cheap phones over the years for that purpose...and I still ordered one. Thanks OP

Does active service mean 12 months of paid monthly plan or just activation and then used only as wifi phone for a year?

Straight Talk will unlock devices, allowing use on other carriers, after 12 months of active service, provided the account is in good standing and the phone is not reported stolen. For phones activated on or after Jan 20, 2026, the policy requires 365 days of paid service. Requests can be submitted via their website or app.

Any time! Smilie Just glad it could help someone.

I do the same thing. I currently use a Moto Edge 2024 that I picked up during a Metro by T-Mobile deal posted here a while back paired together with a GameSir G8 controller.
