If you think you're actually going to use this you might find it worthwhile to spring for a Bosu balance trainer (or a knockoff) instead, which forces you to balance in all directions. That's a lot trickier but you can always hold onto something as you work your way up.

This board is a bit flawed. May be fine for someone who just needs a small amount of work to achieve balance. Such as elderly. Problem for most will be the small amount of range, left to right. Mainly due to how far inward the rockers are. Ideally, they would extend to the edge or as close as possible. Because these bottom rails are so far inward, the edges of the board hit the floor rather quickly and stops.

I have had major damage to my ankles and this balance board is part of my therapy. It is good for ankle and calve strengthening, and hips to some extent. It is well built and mine has stood up to at least 2 years of use. If you need it, get it.

At pt they can get you to hold some fixture to start. I would do bodyweight squats while holding a railing, and progressed through to fingertips touching to hands free.

Recent reviews are mixed. Many posting that the board broke after a couple of uses.

Are these good to use with a standing desk at work? Or too distracting?
I'd assume you can lean on the desk for balance while getting accustomed to it.

Any thoughts on this one as a much cheaper knock-off:
