Also, to the above poster, I didn't see any links to those places where it's "as low as" $330. That's ok, happens to all of us. The other week I sent an email saying "Please see attachment" and whoopsie, totally forgot the attachment!
Now, if you compared the relative value of an entry-level M1 Air to an entry-level M4 Air (which has gone on sale for ~$750-800 over the holiday season, msrp $1000)...I'd argue for the extra ~$400 (double the price), you're getting a machine with a far superior processor, marginally larger screen, and double the ram. Also, it's not going on 6 years old. (But I'm using a 16gb/1tb M1 Air right now, and it's held up splendidly under daily normal use.)
If you have a strict budget or want to get into the apple ecosystem on the cheap, it'd be hard to beat this for a low-risk entry point. It's a delightful, well-made ultrabook that's extremely inexpensive.

I had no problems with an M1 Air 8 GB doing React Native development with a Python backend and two IDEs running at the same time

M1 is still crushing most laptop cpus in 2026 both in power and efficiency ... That's been Apple's biggest problem since going to the mac silicon is that people haven't felt the need to upgrade even after multiple generations .
It took unitl M4 for apple to realize that 8GB just wasn't enough for a lot of people... I'm somone who uses 96GB or 128GB of DDR5 on every PC i own, but my macbook air is only 16GB and it's absolutely fine because of how efficient the mac silicon is and how the ram is managed.
I don't care about the storage, you can always plug in an external drive and i use a NAS for file storage so i can keep my PCs as clean as possible.
That said, I know plenty of people who bought 8GB ram M1-M3 macbook airs and still don't feel the need to upgrade.
I don't care if it's "old" ... my one PC that's still on AM4 with a 5950x is still fine. (and i run a 5090 on it). i just worked on my buddy's 10th gen i7 desktop earlier today and it's 5 generations old but can still play any AAA title just fine with hi setup
CPUs that are 5 years old in 2026 are typically still just fine, and the M1 is absolutely still perfectly great for 99% of people ...
I know i went back and forth between PC and Mac here but my point is that mac silicon has even more staying power than x86 right now and even x86 chips that are 4-5 years old are still perfectly great... Is my 9950x3d faster than 5950x ? Absolutely...but most people wouldn't even notice because they aren't going to push either cpu to it's limit.
Same is true for the M1.. If you can live with the RAM this computer will be great for years and I can't think of a better laptop in the price range... Personally if this was my price range i'd get a mac mini, but for a laptop i just don't see anything being better at this price and 8GB of RAM on a mac goes a lot further than it does on a x86 pc .
Get the apple keyboard and trackpad attachment for your ipad and you can basically use it like a laptop these days... You'd be better off doing this.

You had us in the first half
1) as a community, we should be sure to not spread mis-information that can cause harm to other members. If someone buys based on this link, they will be dealing with an inferior product or a return; not the one mentioned on this thread.
2) if its truly a separate, better deal then the user can create a new post. This would in turn get evaluated, or in this case get voted down with a reason 'not a good price'
3) especially when a thread is already full of comments, we should be reducing comments get rid of the bloat when possible and help people find the meaningful and helpful comments more quickly.

And yes I open as many tabs as I like, do minor photo editing, all the normal internet/streaming stuff, document stuff, programming projects etc.
The people that criticize this thing don't realize how it feels to use it, because even to this day it feels amazing, yes even with 8gb of ram.
