Was your item a phone though? Customer services says the restocking fee applies to all phones new, open box, etc now unless it wasn't opened and used.

Not that Im arguing for or against the OP,
but why is this argument always made? Yes, on a small-scale no one cares about your data. But on a larger scale, things become much more nefarious and dangerous.

And its a huuuge difference if you live in the U.S. getting spied on, vs. getting spied on by a foreign entity.
