Don't buy these expecting to get it permitted. States are quickly adopting crappy electrical code guidance which insists on a UL listing that can only be obtained when the battery AND inverter are tested as one system.

Even worse, the exact configuration must be certified - meaning they'd have to certify an inverter with one, two, three, four batteries separately and get certs for each possible configuration. That's going to kill these DIY peacemeal offerings you see here

Another fun layer is that this UL listing cannot technically be satisfied by these Intertek certifications to "UL Standards" - though many inspectors won't bother checking.

Caveat emptor. (Though I think the price justifies all of the risks if you plan on doing all of it yourself anyway.)

Are you sure this includes the rack?

There might be exemptions or at least less restrictions if these are placed in a shed on your property, as long as that shed is a minimum distance from your main dwelling. Building a shed allows you to control off-gassing events and control temperatures better too. Best consult your building code and/or friendly AI for direction/inspiration.

Your typical American household uses 30kWh per DAY. 60kWh of battery and 10kw of solar would get you through maybe 2 days of no sun.

They're getting better. Will Prowse inspects them. Maybe the next gen or next will (exceed 🤞 or) be up to standard. Time will tell.

This DOES NOT include the rack. Sketchy marketing. The ones pictured are also not the V3's, which are the only ones UL listed as far as I know. They sent me the V3's and I had to argue with them for a while about the rack being pictured, but not included and ended up paying the difference to get the rack. Such a headache.

Really? The Slickdeals listing above explicitly states " ... + 6-tier Server Rack". That's BS!

Was it the same listing? This has a 6-Tier 3U Server Rack tab in the Item Description. Hopefully they learned that customers are expecting it.

At some point this had enough upvotes that it triggered my alerts...but now it is negative. Is this getting vindictively downvoted, or just not a good deal?

It's really not a good deal. I posted a much better deal right before your comment. But that thing is heavy which might be a problem for some. I bought one and can tell you first hand that it's 630 lbs of fun to install!

A bit of both...it's an okay deal, is the V3 rack battery, and includes the rack despite earlier reports to the contrary (FUD). Eco-worthy are releasing another series called Cubix which will be an upgrade in various ways to this V3 model and is undergoing UL9540 (not 9540A) paired with several of their AIO inverters. The Cubix will be new and more expensive initially, but may be worth the dough for compliant install and extra features/safety.
