#2 was likely not too much of an issue before but is an added bonus of upgrading the chip. BLE is enabling the coarse finding and the Find My feature.To take advantage of #1, you need to have iPhone 15 or newer which is when they introduced U2 on the iPhone side. This chipset has support for the older technology as well so if you have iPhone 14 or older, this AirTag will essentially function as Gen 1 with a slightly louder speaker and slightly better coarse finding.
