I use them to pay:

city property taxes & water bill
electric bill
gas bill
car lease payment
All to establishments that would charge a fee for CC pmt but no fee for debit.

Why not just purchase amazon giftcards directly? But yes, you can.
Seems like a good way to meet the minimum spend of signup bonus for credit cards. Will keep that in mind.

Just don't do it with Amex cards. They get level 3 data and so can see what you purchase.

Unless there is more to your story net outcome doesn't change. It's either you spend all $$$ now with your marriot card and get benefits, or you spend that same exact $$$ during extended period of time to get exactly the same benefit.

You also need to replenish your credit card spending with cash which means you lose 5% APR on that.

Your argument would only make sense if you could cash out these cards and pay your credit card bill with that, however, I doubt that's possible.
It seems like the guy is trying to compensate for something....Logic is crazy. Your comment is spot on. I'll "Lol" all I want at that guy.

been here since 2010 and THAT'S your best idea????just....wow...
Pretty much every other regular expenses is covered by 3% - 5%. Car insurance is the only one where I was originally getting 1.5% only. What kind of cashback do you get with your car insurance?

Not to "use" but to liquidate. It's very easy to purchase these, turn them into cash, and keep the rewards.

Car insurance.
It depends. I attempted to use one of these prepaid credit cards to pay for my car insurance at Geico. The charge was declined because the discounted rate Geico quoted me required me on an auto-pay, which means that my payment is categorized as 'recurring payment'. Banks usually decline 'recurring payment' charged on a prepaid credit card.

My main issue with prepaid virtual credit cards is how to use up the last penny unless I buy gift cards.

Credit card bonuses, meeting minimum spend. E.g. Chase Ink Cash earns 5x UR at staples.com. These points can be very valuable when transfered to Hyatt or airlines.
