The 4 pack is $35 on Amazon a much better value. Great gadget, the only minor flaw is there is no place to put the original battery cover so you will probably lose it. It would have been easy to carve out a small place for it.
Otherwise, it's held by 4 hex screws and features a rubber gasket so real well made and sturdy mine are going on like 2 years now with Lithium AAs

Grabbed a 4-pack of these the last time they went on sale. Seems like a quality product, setup was super easy and it's great that I don't have to worry about battery life for a while. Apparently these are also compatible with gen 2.

i kept the bag that the screws came in and tossed the original battery cover in that. bag went into the "don't throw away" drawer
on the product itself mine have also been going strong. i only had one running in one vehicle and after a few months of no problems i added a second one to another vehicle. no issues so far

I got similar ones a while back. Will these work on the new Airtag 2s? I know the dimensions are a tiny bit different, but maybe tolerances would still work.

I tossed one of these in with my spare tire, and it's really nice. I can never forget where I parked.

How much more battery life do you get out of these?

One would only lose the original cover is if they misplace it. Store it with other essential bits and pieces that need to be retained for long-term use.

Do people really do that? Forget where they parked?

"Yes, I seem to have neglected where I placed my second most valuable possession (second only after my home). Let me use a $800+ mobile phone, $100/month service plan, and $50 tracking device to locate where I put that vehicle."
Yes, some of us do and it's not what you think; happens when going to big events and the parking lots are big or improvised. Happened to me when I went to Dodger Stadium and my County Fair.

It's also good to place on things that can easily be stolen, ie bikes, motorcycles, ATVs...this not only good if you forget where you park but if your vehicle is stolen.

You seems surprised that people do venture out of the basements.
