I tried to trade in a first-generation Motorola Nexus phone, but the IMEI is not recognized on T-Mobile.I guess not just any phone qualifies. Has anyone successfully traded in an old device other than an Apple, Samsung, or Google phone?
I tried to trade in a prepaid moto g 5g 2024 phone that I bought for $20 through Best Buy Verizon total wireless in August 2025. Eventually got it rebranded through tracfone so it would unlock after 60 days which it did. But the IMEI isn't recognized on T-Mobile either when I tried. Ended up trading a Samsung s8+ and Samsung a71 for $800 credit each which I have about 4 weeks to ship

A lot of people in this thread are on SC and got the deal. Check the app, as well as on the web, sometimes it shows up in one but not the other. Good luck!
There are different types of SC plans. The ones that anre immune to price hikes will probably never get this kind of deal.

Looking at my order in the app, the trade in phones show up as the LG that Im trading in and the other (Samsung flip phone that has the verbiage about being on network for 30 days) shows up as "only any trade loyalty"under "trade-in offer details". I'm hoping that the tmobile store will just give me the credit when I go to turn my trade in..
That verbiage only shows up if you (incorrectly) select the device through the drop-downs rather than entering the IMEI directly.

I bought a iPhone 13 late last year. Is it worth upgrading to pixel 10? If not I'll probably give either one to a family member. I don't really care for having the most recent and up to date phones as long as I can do basic tasks. I mainly wanted an iPhone for apple watch purpose. Bilit I do also have iPhone se3 that was bought in 2024. Unfortunately I'm an idiot and left it in my pants and washed it one day in laundry. Surprisingly it still works but speckles of noticeable water damage on screen.

I see the promotion on my One Plan account but the terms make it seem like only the newer plans qualify for this. Any advice?
Yes I have been wondering the same because it shows but then it lists the plans and I don't want to end up having tmo changing my plane because I traded a phone

What is a work around if T-life cannot find my IMEI? (Essential Phone PH-1).I see an option for "ONLY Any Trade Promo Smrtphne" and then it lets me enter the IMEI.Do we think that'll work?
Same plan. I had to call the T-Mobile Costco number as a Costco member. They accepted. I would call regular T-Mobile if you're not a Costco member.

This is a great deal! I was able to get an old Galaxy Note 3 and a HTC PC36100 to trade in! Miraculously, the batteries are still kicking in them to power up. In case you have an oldie like the HTC it has a 14 character HEX MEID number that will not work with the T-Mobile IMEI number checker. If you Google "Convert MEID ############## to 15 digit IMEI" it should kick out a number that will pass the verification. I also had to use Incognito mode in Chrome as I kept getting a weird generic_error message at the top of the screen when I was trying to validate the IMEI numbers.
Thanks. appreciate the information. Oddly when I did this the imei passed the checker and was accepted on the phone from a costco rep but when I got the text for trade in it says a totally different phone. Agent said not to worry it happens all the time. Didn't check the imei that came up that I gave the rep till after the phone call and the IMEI comes up as yet a totally different phone in the imei checker. Will be interesting when I go into the store. Thinking of doing a second one with an imei that passes and shows the correct phone then if the first one doesn't work will just return it.

Shows valid when I put in a valid imei number, but could be killed today. If on the fence, I would complete them asap.
