Attached are GeekBench scores that I ran on the phones I have/had. The 2024 Moto G Stylus has similar scores to the Samsung A54 5G. The 2025 Moto G Stylus has a faster process than the 2024 version, so it should be faster than the A54. I ordered the 2025 Stylus this morning. I will run GeekBench on it when I receive it, and post the scores.

Unfortunately, after Verizon has been relieved of its boundation to unlock devices within 60 days on Jan 20 2026, this is the easiest and cheapest way to buy a new device with decent specs that gets auto unlock (albeit after 365 days) without paying anything extra after the initial activation. From the carrier perspective it makes little sense selling the devices at steep discount without even breaking-even by making the customer pay the overly inflated telecom service, so its kind of a stretch expecting them to easily unlock the devices (within a short period of time like 60 days).
Having said that, this is slickdeals Smilie and here, one expects to get the best possible 'bang for the buck' on a given day, hence the deal. Happy to be corrected.

Would love to get this but waiting a year for unlock sucks, that is an unreasonably long wait time 😞 They really should change unlock policy back to 60 days (or less).

You can buy both phones, but you need to activate the 1st phone first before you can order the 2nd phone using Add A Phone function in your account. Order the 2nd phone at least several days before the plan for the 1st phone expires, otherwise you'll have trouble activating the 2nd phone because your account is no longer active by the time the 2nd phone is delivered.

They mainly require a port in to take a line away from the competitors (that's why a T-mobile number isn't eligible for port-in).

Can I buy one now and not activate service for 2 months? Parents from abroad are visiting in April and this will be perfect for them (their stay is less than a month)

I think Metro will automatically activate the line 21 days after the phone was shipped. Best to call Metro C.S. and ask.

Metro will automatically activate only if the 1st phone number account is active . Otherwise there will be a hurdle in activation . I ended up purchasing a month's BYOP plan to activate the 2nd phone ( 2 months after delivery of the 2nd phone )

I know cricket can be uniquely odd in that regard. When they decided to start white listing at first they did t even include lots of art OK phones and had to backtrack from some of that.
Would be very curious to see the result if someone who got one of these motos ran the imei through

Usually, for the same model year, the Stylus is slightly faster than the G Power. See attached GeekBench scores that I ran on the phones that I have/had.

There's something strange about the IMEI of this Metro Moto G Stylus 2025. I received mine yesterday and attached are screenshots of my checking.
Using Cricket IMEI Check: 2025 model got "Something didn't work right. System Down". 2024 model is Compatible.
Using AT&T IMEI Check: 2025 model got "IMEI not found". 2024 model was recognized(i.e. Compatible).

I switched from the G Power to this because the G Power's camera relies on digital zoom, while the Stylus comes with optical zoom. The difference? Optical zoom uses the lens to magnify the subject without sacrificing image quality, whereas digital zoom enlarges the image electronically, which can reduce sharpness and detail.
