Good shoes, but not a very good price. Once or twice each year, they drop to ~$45-50

Are you sure? This is Ride 18, and it never went under $85.

you're stuck in the past brother. the good old days are way behind us. now we get to try and decide if certain Adidas models are actually good for running while also scrapping for $50 deals for skechers and nikes of questionable quality. The old days of $30-$40 rides/freedoms/etc are all long gone. It's sad!

If you're talking about this deal, the Saucony Ride series, this is a standard running shoe that can last as many miles as you're likely to take it. I take almost all of my shoes to 500 miles and by then, either by placebo or habit, I move them towards yard/casual shoes if there's anything left. I just checked my shoe list, I've had 10 pairs of Rides go to 500 miles over the years.

These are good running shoes for sure, I just remember the day when Saucony was over-manufacturing and using stores like DSW to offload a crapload of excess inventory at the end of the season at rock bottom prices.

I miss how easy it was to get good deals in the old days also, but sometimes things do pop up. REI had Millennium Ride for $50 a couple weeks ago. Granted, that isn't the Ride 18, and I can't speak to which shoe looks better (running shoes can get fugly), but I expect the Ride 18 will be close out priced when Ride 19 comes out.

Personally, I bought two pairs of Saucony Guide 7 in December for $40 each. Now I can be patient and wait for the next good deal on running shoes.

The quality of these shoes from earlier models has dramatically dropped while the price stays the same. Ride 13 for example was totally worth $140 in 2021. Ride 18s are probably worth $45 now in 2026.

Looking for alternatives and recommendations since this isn't it.

I love good deals, and $150+ a shoe is a luxury for sure, but running shoes are one area I'm not really willing to sacrifice. I'll buy store brand groceries and Costco clothing, but my running shoes aren't something I can go cheap on. I picked up a pair of these in December and they are pretty good. I had the glide before but wanted to try something else, and these didn't even need a break in. I'm so tempted to pick up a second pair just to throw in the closet.

Looks like any other $20 pair of shoes. Overpriced.

If you accept paying the new prices and don't use your power to boycott or at least postpone your purchase, they will keep increasing the prices. As consumers we have the leverage. Just hold your desire to buy for a while.

I think gone are the days of clearance shows being cheap. I bought Ride 15s for $50 in November 2022.

They do come around. I bought two pairs of Saucony Guide 7 in December 2025 for $40 each. Now I can be patient and wait for the next good deal on running shoes.
