  • For a limited time, reserve the latest Galaxy device(s) on samsung.com or in the Shop Samsung App and receive a $30 Samsung Credit ("Reservation Gift") when you pre-order and purchase the latest Smartphone device ("Qualifying Smartphone"). Pre-order and purchase of a Qualifying Smartphone is required. The Reservation Gift cannot be applied to the Qualifying Smartphone and must be used at the time of pre-order and purchase towards purchasing additional eligible products on samsung.com, or in the Shop Samsung App; any value not used will be lost. Reservation Gift will be applied automatically when you use the same email address during Reserve and Pre-order periods. The Gift is non-transferable and limited to 1 per Qualifying Purchase per customer. If you return or cancel your purchase, the discount will be forfeit.
  • For a limited time only, on samsung.com or Shop Samsung App, pre-order and purchase a new qualifying Galaxy device ("Qualifying Purchase"), send in your qualifying trade-in device to Samsung through the Samsung Trade-In Program, and if Samsung determines your trade-in device meets all eligibility requirements, you will receive a trade-in credit specific to your qualifying trade-in device to apply toward your Qualifying Purchase. Device models that currently qualify for trade-in and trade-in credit amounts associated with those models are available on samsung.com and the Shop Samsung App; eligible models and amounts may change at Samsung's sole discretion. To be eligible for trade-in, your qualifying device must meet all Trade-In Program eligibility requirements, which include, but are not limited to, that the device powers on, holds a charge, and does not power off unexpectedly; has a functioning display; has no breaks or cracks in the screen (unless a cracked screen offer applies); has no breaks or cracks in the case; has no liquid damage (whether visible or not); has no other defects that go beyond normal wear and tear, is not on a black list; has a verified FCC ID; has been reset to factory settings; has all personal information removed; has all software locks disabled; and is owned by you (leased devices are not eligible). Anticipated trade-in value will be applied as a credit at time of purchase, but, if you do not send in your trade-in device within 15 days of receipt of your Qualifying Purchase, you will be charged back for the trade-in credit applied to your purchase, or if you send in your trade-in device within 15 days of receipt of your Qualifying Purchase but Samsung determines your device does not meet all eligibility requirements, you will be charged back for the trade-in credit applied to your purchase minus $25. Participation in this program does not excuse you from contracts with your carrier or retailer (or any related payments or fees) for the device that was traded in. Limit 1 trade-in per Qualifying Purchase. Samsung reserves the right to modify or discontinue this offer at any time. The Trade-In Program cannot be combined with any other Samsung, carrier or retailer promotions, discounts, or offers unless specifically provided for in the terms and conditions of such offers. Additional terms, including terms that govern the resolution of disputes, apply.

From 100 preorder + 50 reserve credits , to juts 30 credit and 900 in savings (not 1000 for trade-in). Samsung has figured out they don't even need to sell phones this year , that can sell memory chips for 10 times the price and make money. might not be worth preordering or trading in. just wait for a couple of months pick up on straight up discounted offer.

Samsung has never really been my first choice for a phone, but I've always gotten one because the deals were too good to pass up. If they are no longer giving good deals, I'll just stick to my S25 Ultra and get something else down the line.

Something tells me this is going to be a nothing burger update like the s24ultra and s25ultra were... they dont care anymore. Memory is expensive now so they arent going to be putting much into improving the rest of the hardware.
Samsung makes the memory and storage for their phones (aside from the most recent year I'm reading that they went with Micron because it was cheaper), but there were reports that the memory division doesn't want to sell to them and would rather maximize profit and sell to data centers like everyone else. For Samsung, the memory isn't more expensive to make than it was before, there is just an opportunity cost to use it themselves and not sell it elsewhere. For once vertical integration might actually be good for consumers and keep prices low on these particular devices as I'm sure the top execs for Samsung will force the memory division to play nice.

The $30 is towards purchase of a wearable according to the fine print. "Samsung Credit ("Reservation Gift") when you pre-order and purchase the latest Smartphone device ("Qualifying Smartphone").Show More

I bought Samsung because they weren't Apple. Now they're just Korean Apple with no real upgrades over 3-4 years. I'm betting my dad's S22 is going to be indistinguishable functionally from an S26. When are we getting any kind of camera upgrades on the base model?

They are not "Korean Apple". Both companies have taken inspiration from each other over the years, and some recent controversies were overblown by the internet. Given how lackluster the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was on the S22, I would think you are insane to not see the massive difference just from the SOC alone in reducing waste heat, increasing performance (no lag), and longer battery life. There's also the much-improved software update length but yeah if you had an S24 I would understand as that is far more recent and if the leaks are to be believed, functionally identical to the S26...

Last year Samsung didn't really have sales on their base model, and they haven't upgraded it much compared to the Ultra (kinda like Apple did until the 17 if that's what you mean). Their last major deal was the S25 Ultra for ~650 back in December. I would just wait for one of those random Walmart sales on the base/plus model since it does not seem like they are discounting those as much as the Ultra.

They're Korean Apple because they're not innovating on their bar style phones and they're repeatedly taking away features, emulating Apple. I have an S24U and I don't see myself upgrading to any more Ultras partly because the Bluetooth stylus is so useful and they stripped it from the S25U onwards.

The SD8 Gen 1 is still a monster chip for daily tasks. My dad is not gaming on his device and it mostly stays indoors near a plug so battery is fine. Most people are outside maybe max 2-3 hours a day, if that, so battery life is really an overblown issue, especially comparing the base S series models since none of them are battery kings. My dad took it to South America recently and rarely ran out of juice because he's back in his hotel after 4-5 hours outside. Heat is also overblown. I personally owned an S22+ a few years ago with the same chip. Never had heat issues. People just read s*** online without ever having used them. My whole family was on the S22 series when it came out and no one ever complained.

As much as I dislike Apple for the anti-consumer practices, the one thing they did this year was actually innovate on their standard phones, especially their base model. The SD 8 Gen 1 might have been good back on lighter OneUI 5 or so back in 2022-23, but now it's falling behind. I have used the S22+ much more recently than you have, which is why I have a different experience. It has changed with OneUI 7 onwards to be quite laggy, even compared to the S23, which is noticeably faster. Maybe you don't notice stutters in daily use but that was part of my experience last year.

Battery life is important; I upgraded from the S22+ to the S25 Ultra and quite literally doubled my SOT from 6 hours to 12 hours. It's not just an hour or two more, but the difference between scrambling for a charger or always plugging into your car or a charger at work (literal anxiety) just to keep it topped up. With the S25U it's even a factor you just plug in when you feel like it. The battery is not going to age any better in the future. Just because you are outside or don't personally care for it doesn't mean it's not an important factor to the phone's longevity. Regardless of battery considerations, the S22's support life is ending soon.

Edit: Seeing as you edited your post I will too. I used it recently and experienced heat issues with only a few apps open, maybe you got a golden sample, but that doesn't invalidate other people's experiences with some heat and lag in regular use. It's clear that newer software changes the experience, as seen with iOS 26 being much buggier than previous versions. If I put it in your words: some people spew s*** online thinking that everyone has the exact same phone and experience as them. I wasn't expecting this issue and still faced it. Anyway, the point is that yes double the battery life is significant for most people and same with the reduction in lag/heat when multitasking. Not all will have faced this issue with older models and that's great for those who can keep their past devices, but for the rest of us any of these newer models are much better than S21/S22. It will certainly help Samsung get over their reputation of slowing down over time causing people to jump ship to idevices.

Edited for clarity, not to change the actual point being made. Too bad you got a bad experience. My parents are still on S22s (one base, one plus) and they're running well on OneUI 8 or 8.5, whatever is on their devices now. They're still monster chips for normal daily tasks. I even have an S21 I use for backup and it does every normal thing. It's ironic that Apple's the one that actually innovated the last year, but I think you know what I meant by Korean Apple. Their reputation has been to not touch anything for years which is what Samsung is doing. If you want to defend Samsung go for it. As someone who's daily'd Samsung exclusively for the last 5 years or so, I'm very disappointed in how they started taking advantage of their US market status right now, and everyone who wants more competition in the US smartphone market should be disappointed.

That's more an issue with the US itself, although Samsung is partly to blame for taking advantage of the situation. See the same thing happening to EVs where competition is stagnant here because of government policies. Huawei would have forced all the major brands here to compete, but they and the rest of the Chinese companies were effectively kicked out of the market.

As a SDer I feel like the stagnation doesn't affect us as much. Regular people spend $1400 on an S25 Ultra or $800 on an S25 and if I did the same, I would be disappointed. It's like how people feel about the Pixel's mediocre SOC and 128GB storage. The issue is that when the 9 was effectively $120 on release and the 10 Pro was recently around $350 with Mint, compared to MSRP of $800/1000, our expectations are far lower than normal. Like sure the 10 Pro barely improved from the 9 Pro (kinda like the S26 seems to be) but it's also the price of an S25 FE on sale or an A57 off sale. For example, if the S26 base was listed as a deal here for $600 and the S25 was on sale for $500 then sure it would be a pretty worthless upgrade. My new favorite saying for analyzing value is that there is never a bad product, just a bad price.
