Used, not refurbished. Old battery, scuffed display, gunker up ports.

Something to keep in mind from a family that went all in on foldable phones.
We purchased the Fold3, and Flip3 originally then wife upgraded to Flip 6. We are not tough on our phones are our previous phones were pristine, including my Galaxy Note 10+ I finally replaced after 5 years. Our phones have cases on them from the second they come out of the box.

Fold 3, internal ribbons failed causing bluetooth, Wifi and other random issues. Required the entire screen/frame replacement by Samsung... Out of pocket $700 in repairs. Apparently a common failure... Mine failed at 14 months... 2 months outside of warranty.

Flip 3, required 3 screen replacements in 4 years. 1 under warranty, 3 under insurance. Even though my wife is very careful with her phones. Issues always occured at the fold itself. Also of note, the official Samsung replacement displays were unreadable with polarized sunglasses on. We complained abou that to Samsung and they said tough cookie, that's how they are now.

Flip 6, so far has required 2 replacements/repairs... Digitizer stopped working entirely 2 months into her ownership, Samsung decided they would just replace the phone instead of repairing it and 2nd the screen just stopped turning on randomly one day.

We have now decided that we are done with folding phones until they figure out the issues. That being said when we were in line at the Samsung Authorized repair faiciliity there were 4 people in line with us... 3 out of those 4 had Flip 6s with failed digitizers. So by our anecdotal experience the foldables are getting worse instead of better reliability wise.

I'm curious if the Fold 7 is more durable. This post seems to say it's better:

I second most of the stuff said on this post. My Fold 5 has to stay in permanent tablet mode because something in the middle fold is worn down so if I close it the front screen goes blank and when you open the phone again the screen is garbled.
Flip 5 the smallest drop from a sitting position to the top of the dinner table caused the green line on the inner screen.
Flip 6 multiple screen protector replacements.
Flip 7 has been the only flawless device and the screen covering the whole front has been a blessing.

The Flips fail really badly, I think it's just from the amount of times they're folded/unfolded vs the Fold series, since they're not really usable unfolded, unlike the Fold series.

I had issues with the Fold 5 right after the one year mark too. The fingerprint sensor started to randomly fail and then failed entirely. Brought it into Samsung (not a third party authorized repair center) and they tried to replace the fingerprint sensor, but the last test on it failed and they had to replace the entire motherboard of the phone. How exactly an issue that bad happens, I don't know. It also happened exactly outside the one year window and if I hadn't had the extended warranty coverage from my credit card, I'd be looking at a thousand dollar repair.

I have the Fold 6 now and it's been working fine but that really would've sucked without the extended warranty coverage.

Plenty of complaints since initial release.
Upgrade trade-in value lot higher than sale price / which in turn is too much lower too soon than original price.
Nobody is giving away anything these days.

I would like to offer counter to "durability" of Fold series.
Whole family of 4 used since Fold 3.
My youngest son still uses Fold 3. He did get the inner screen replaced BUT it wasn't due to it failing but due to botched inner screen protector replacement by Samsung authorized repair facility under warranty. They replaced his screen when the phone was about 1 yr old. So far, no issues with screen after 3+ years (Phone is 4+ years old) though his battery isn't lasting as long as before.
My older son and I used Fold 3 until early last year (3+ yrs) when I swapped to Fold 6. Considered moving to Fold 7 but decided to wait. No issues with screen though battery was starting to get weak for me (fold 3). My son did not have issues either and no issues with Fold 6 so far. (I just removed inner screen protector and my son replaced his screen protector under warranty - on Fold 3) - no issues with either of our Fold 6.
My wife swapped her Fold 3 to Fold 5 couple of years back after bad fall from her bike caused the hinge to not fully open. Screen was fine. So far, no issues with her Fold 5.
So, maybe in our family's experiences with 7 foldables, no issues with phones pretty much except for fold 3's inner screen protectors coming off which were replaced under warranty.

Same, common issues I see are hinge not opening fully flat (I don't think that's been much of a thing since the 6) and the crease getting worn/damaged a tiny bit (I think due to having no screen protector after it eventually peels away)
Also had a Fold since the 3, went 3 -> 4 -> 6 -> trifold
3 is still fine iirc (my wife used it up until a year ago)
4 had a hinge issue, samsung fixed it under warrantly. then I traded it in for the 6. right when I traded it in I started noticing some faint dots/lines where the crease was. I think because I was rocking no inner screen protector for a while. My Flip 3 also still has this issue (but also still works fine regardless). I ended up trading the 4 for a 6 and Samsung accepted it.
6 and trifold have been fine, but obviously not as much time ~1.5 years for the Fold 6 and a few weeks for the trifold
